Honestly, this is perfect for me conflict-wise. I'd get to see everyone.
That's evidence as much as anything that it's unlikely. I second the sentiment that you've gotta have MGMT on the main stage (or in the Sahara, I still wouldn't be shocked to see Hot Chip on the Outdoor and MGMT in the Sahara).
just switched Gossip and MGMT.
Do we at least think the right acts are on the right stages?
This is really sort of a mess to look at. So, let's get some more concrete input as to where to move things around.
I still have a hard time with Hot Chip in the Sahara, especially because their new album is rather downtempo. I mean, I know they'll play some of their popular upbeat songs. I could just as easily seem them on the main stage, early.
5/25-5/27: MOVEMENT DETROIT
6/6: The Field @ The Independent
6/26: Colin Stetson @ The Chapel

Primus - 5/18 - Rialto Theatre
Big Boi/Killer Mike - 5/20 - Rialto Theatre
The Black Angels - 5/22 - Hotel Congress
Devo - 5/24 - Rialto Theatre
The Dead Weather will not play the Outdoor Theater...
Think of Teurs played the main stage and Jack is not
going to settle for the Outdoor.
I really like MGMT on the Outdoor in the SSPU spot of last year.
If this is the schedule, here is my Saturday:
Beach House
Les Claypool
Tokyo Police Club
Ravonettes
Frightened Rabbit
Edward Sharpe
XX
Mew
Gossip
Devo
Muse
Hot Chip[/B]12 Bands in one day? Seriously??? Redic... I tried 9 the year the Rapture closed out the Sahara and I almost passed out.
Since when did we all decide Hot Chip would close the Sahara? I kind of doubt it.
Dont get me wrong, going 2ManyDJs ---> Flying Lotus ---> Hot Chip would be rad, I just dont see it happening.
I'm LOVIN' the backlash against Hop Chip possibly closing the Sahara.
Restore 2manyDJs to their rightful throne at the helm of the dance tent!

Why not friend me on Last.fm?
yeah. Hot Chip doesn't really belong in the Sahara.
Especially because of their new album.
and ESPECIALLY given that there are already 5 high-billed Sahara acts.
I still don't understand what the hell Sia, White Rabbits and the Raveonettes are doing on the mainstage.
Girls won't open a tent/stage.
*based upon tedious fact checking.
clumsy, time to get off the sauce, this line up was wayyyyyyyyy better before you changed it all.
Sia on the mainstage makes sense actually. She played at night in the mojave, during a headliner, in 08 and now they are going to move her to a daytime slot outside one of the tents. Mainstage makes the most amount of sense to me.
White Rabbits I could see there, who knows though. There is no reason to believe they would/wouldn't. But yeah, Raveonettes won't be.
Some suggestions for discussion:
Switch MGMT with The Dead Weather
Get The Raveonettes off the Main Stage and into the Mojave at night
Move Devo into the current Gossip space
I can't figure out where to place Hot Chip. I don't see them on the Main Stage, and they filled the Sahara in 2008, so I could see them closing it this year (just like The Rapture did in 2007). Would they play opposite Muse on the Outdoor Stage?
MGMT's new album will be coming out a few days before Coachella. They have been one of the biggest "hype" bands since 2008. Even though I am sure the new album will suck balls, it is sure to be a huge album. It is also going to be their first show after the album drops. There is going to be a stupid amount of hype around this performance. Mainstage.

As far as MGMT goes. there are valid points on both sides.
For the time being. let's let em suck in on the Main stage. because UNFORTUNATELY that's what happens a lot of the time. (YYY's, TVOTR, Breeders, Gogol, etc..)
I'm more concerned about Devo's visual show. Do we think they will be able to do it on the Outdoor? Or are they playing the Mojave?
there's usually at least 25 minutes between sets on the Main.
and MGMT is getting 50 min, hands down.
Not true. Like WhyTheLongFace just said... like YYYs last year.
Also, WhyTheLongFace, MGMT will not get a full hour. And FNM will need more than 10 minutes to set up. And Muse will need more than 15 minutes.
Try more like...
MGMT 5:35-6:25
Faith No More 7:50-8:50
Muse 9:15-10:45
Tiesto 11-12
