I think Hot Chip will close the Outdoor Theatre.
I think Hot Chip will close the Outdoor Theatre.

EDIT: And besides that, it's not like the whining & bitching that goes on in here is what sways Goldenvoice's decision. "Wait a sec, all the posters in the Set Time Predictions - SATURDAY thread poo-poohed the idea of MGMT as Sahara headliner. Oh well, guess we ought to put them on the Outdoor Theatre to close the night instead and bump Devo down to conflict with Muse. I hope they're happy."
Unfortunately, I deleted last years set times from my photobucket. So they're gone.
And who said we were trying to influence GV? If that's what you think, then you've missed the point. There's more than enough info/experience here to make an educated guess as to what each day MAY end up looking like. Sucks you don't care to participate.
Guetta headlines the Sahara, 2ManyDJ's close it out. It makes too much sense.

Big Boi/Killer Mike - 5/20 - Rialto Theatre
The Black Angels - 5/22 - Hotel Congress
Devo - 5/24 - Rialto Theatre
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - 5/30 - Rialto Theatre
from what I've seen of Pretty Lights and Flying Lotus, I agree with nbvcide.
what does everyone else think?
At this rate we should keep FlyLo in the Sahara.
Also.. since we have Tiesto on the Main while 2ManyDJs are closing the Sahara, I doubt we'll have Flylo/Pretty Lights closing the Gobi. That just doesn't offer up enough options.
I just dont see FlyLo in the sahara.
Yeah, definitely not in The Sahara.

but Pretty Lights in the Sahara?
same way they had TRVSDJAM in there (not same time slot, but you know what i mean)
THIS
Ting Tings were third line.. The Bug was halfway down the poster..
the Ting Tings were also the MOST packed the Sahara got for ANY act, the entire weekend.. The Bug had the Gobi half empty (which sucks)
no, nobody is saying FlyLo/Pretty Lights CLOSE the Gobi, just play after dark.. (the Gobi will probably be closed during Tiesto, but not necessarily..)
Pretty Lights at sunset Gobi, with FlyLo after, would work for me..
Would they put anyone in Gobi or Outdoor Theater during Tiesto? Remember when he drowned out Cornelius and The Good The Bad and the Queen in 2007?
really glad i came to check up on this thread to see 5 of my must see acts playing at the same time. booo on these.
I'll bite.
what 5 are those?
Outdoor theater is pretty good... I don't know how this would work but if you shortened everyone's set there and put Aterciopelados opening that stage, that could work....
Then in the Gobi, have Mew close... Flylo right before Mew... and Pretty Lights right before Flylo...
Then for the Sahara, Dirty South --> [Late small name add] --> Z-Trip --> Craze & Klever --> Bassnectar --> Kaskade and the rest is good...
I just don't know about Mew closing and the Outdoor opening that early...has it ever?
edit: For the gobi, as someone else said, if there was electronic closing it... you'd have Tiesto, Devo/Hot Chip, 2ManyDjs, AND flylo... way too much electronic music.
I see Hot Chip closing the Sahara and MGMT nowhere near that tent. They've said in an interview that their new album is meant to be listened from start to finish and won't contain any pop songs like "Time to Pretend" or "Kids." I don't know what that'll make their new music sound like but I'm going to guess it's not dance music.
Are you just looking for the order of bands here or actual times?
How about Gobi ending with FlyLo -> the xx; and moving Mew into the Mohave? That would give us Tiesto, Devo, xx, Porcupine Tree, 2ManyDJs: a really diverse mix to close the night.
I agree with Dr. Lufs on Pretty Lights in the Sahara. Sure they could play another tent, but seems like they'd be perfect at 3 or 4 in the Sahara. Last year, we were going back and forth on whether or not TRAVDJAM was in there, and they ended up playing Sahara after sunset.
I agree with FlyLo in the Gobi because when I saw him, I liked watching and liked the music, but it wasn't really a dance party.
