Default Could Peter Gabriel be a late addition?

This could be pretty huge if it happens. there's nothing from preventing an artist to play after Coachella is there?

On Peter Gabriel's new covers album, Scratch My Back, the former Genesis frontman and formidable solo artist tackles songs by Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, David Bowie, Lou Reed, Talking Heads, Neil Young, and the Magnetic Fields, among others. It's out February 15 via Virgin. That's the album cover above, and you can read the backstory behind the album over on Gabriel's website.

Stereogum has a stream of Gabriel's version of Arcade Fire's "My Body Is a Cage"; head on over to listen. You can hear excerpts of his versions of David Bowie's "Heroes", Paul Simon's "The Boy in the Bubble", Neil Young's "Mirrorball", and Bon Iver's "Flume" here.

In other Gabriel news, he tells Rolling Stone that he won't reunite with Genesis when they're inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And Gabriel will tour this spring, including a few just-announced North American shows. Dates below:

03-22 Paris, France - Paris Bercy
    03-24 Berlin, Germany - O2
    03-25 Berlin, Germany - O2
    03-27 London, England - O2
    03-28 London, England - O2
04-28 Montreal, Quebec - Bell Centre
05-02 New York, NY - Radio City Music Hall
05-03 New York, NY - Radio City Music Hall
05-07 Los Angeles, CA - Hollywood Bowl

I don't know. I understand the respect thing but I don't think he would be as big of a draw for the under 30 crowd as Gorillaz would be.

I don't think it'll happen due to the Hollywood Bowl show, but I'm all for a Peter Gabriel appearance at Coachella. As long as he doesn't play too many covers, since his new album is all covers from what I've heard.
12/22 - Beachwood Sparks, et al - Echoplex
    12/30 - Together Pangea - Echo
    1/10 - Flesh Eaters - Echoplex (?)
    1/20 - Guster - HOB Anaheim (?)
    1/29 - Patti Smith - Ace (?)

Since he would be a late add it really makes no difference it only helps sell tickets now. And from I know, he could probably easily sell out the Hollywood Bowl even if he was playing Coachella to all of the older LA crowd who don't want to travel to the desert for a festival.

Peter Gabriel is currently in negotiations to reunite with the original members of Genesis. A Genesis reunion at Coachella would seem a better bet to me. I'd love to hear them do the entire Lamb Lies Down On Broadway track-by-track.

Yeah, I agree. It would be very cool of Golden Voice if this would happen. Very cool, indeed. I just can't believe that Jay-Z and The Gorillaz are THE headliners. Seems pretty weak to me, but that's just me. They need someone who can sell lots of tickets, and a reunited Genesis would do it, or someone like AC/DC (see other thread)--or both.

That would be a great add. I haven't seen him since 1973.

PG is fantastic and truly amazing live ... but I have the same problem with PG at Coachella as I do with the rumors of Roxy Music appearance, it would be lost on too many people in the audience. Sad, but true.
