I agree, but would rather have them on a smaller stage because I really hate the lack of intimacy (or too much of it in the case of the jackass rubbing up against you or pissing in a cup) at the main stage.

Amen. Possibly my fave band ever but would give anything to see them do their own show than have it be a part of something this big. Things like this was never their thing but if that's what it would take to get 'em on the same stage again.....

The Replacements are one of my all-time favorite bands. I saw Paul Westerberg play solo and it was fucking incredible. A nice blend of solo material and 'Mats tunes. He ended the show with blood running down his neck. I would travel any distance for a 'Mats reunion.

It won't happen because:
1. Tommy is with GNR for the foreseeable future
2. Chris Mars wants nothing to do with it and Paul has said no Mars, no Mats
3. I think Slim Dunlap still dislikes Paul
4. Paul might like the money, but not the idea of trashing the memory of the Mats

I've seen Paul solo a few times, and that's about as close to the Mats as you'll get. I'm guessing ever. But man, he plays all the songs you'd want to hear. Talent Show, Left of the dial, Merry Go Round, Skyway, Here comes a regular. He played Unsatisfied at Amoeba records. Anyways, as much as I'd like to see this, it won't happen as the existing member planets would have to align and they won't. Blame Mars' painting career mostly. I met Johnny Ramone at Paul's Amoeba in store, and Johnny asked "Who is this guy" about Paul Westerberg. He had no clue.

There's nothing I'd like more than to see the Mats once, but it's not likely. But hey JAMC, Pavement, FNM, all got back together. So it might happen, but some prefer to leave their legacy intact (Talking Heads). Funny thing is, as the years go by, it seems less and less people even know about the Mats. It's a shame. They're one of the most tragically underrated bands of all time.

This needs to happen already. I've actually met Chris Mars on several occasions but was always scared to ask if this will ever happen because frankly he can be scary and he has given me a lot of information about local art that I don't want to piss him off for future encounters and info.

I hope this happens some day and I'm there, but I'm not sure it ever will
