Covering my bases by seeing Beach House at Bimbo's in SF on April 14th...and Girls tonite at the Great American. I love this time of year![]()
It is because I said it was
Hmmmm. Interesting point guedita. While I do not think this will matter very much, it certainly does not help. Thank you for pointing it out, hadn't heard about that date yet.
edit: Mapquest tells me that's about a 4 hour commute. Eh, they could easily do it, if they left Saturday morning, but I don't know if their touring crew is the real go-getter types or not.
my Teen Dream CD/DVD arrived today
it's so effing good
Yeah I'm loving this, might get the vinyl
Broadcasting major/IR minor, unfortunately 2,185 miles from Indio.

daaaayum those pitchfork videos really got me excited
This is my sig. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My sig is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life. My sig, without me, is useless. Without my sig, I am useless. I must fire my sig true. I must splooge straighter than my fellow boardies who are trying to splooge me. I must splooge them before they splooge me.
Finally bought this last night. Yup, that good.
Anyone else have a love/hate relationship with pitchfork? They suggest great new music for me yet tear apart albums I love. Oh well, I guess the Beach Houses, Girls, Native Locals make up for all the negativity.
cant wait, its going to be incen in incendiary
I can't wait to see Beach House, but first I'm going to vent a bit: How the hell are they billed so low?? I'm obviously a bit biased (big fan of Devotion and Teen Dream), but do they really deserve to be billed lower than Shooter Jennings, the Temper Trap, or Tokyo Police Club (among others)?
I guess I don't really care where they are billed....but since they are so low I get the feeling they will be playing at noon as I'm waiting in a line 100 yards long waiting to be frisked by Security. Ugh.
They'll either be an opening act or a sunset in one of the tents act. I was surprised by the low billing, too, especially since they have 3 solidly reviewed albums. Oh well.

So excited for Beach House. Victoria Legrand has such a dreamy voice.
I'm looking forward to hearing BH live. They were on KXT radio last week promoting Teen Dream. 'Walk in the Park' got me hooked.![]()
I love Beach House! I saw them open for Grizzly Bear and was mesmerized the entire time! I can't wait to see them again and I can't stop listening to Teen Dream...Lover Of Mine anyone?!??
BUT what I am really confused about this discussion is how you can even compare Girls to Beach House? Girls is one of the worst new bands that I have ever heard...I don't understand why so many people are hyped about them. They have shitty vocals, shitty lyrics, and their song Lust For Life makes my ears bleed.
EVERYDAY SHOULD BE PLURSDAY
I want to let you know that as I am posting this ...I am listening to them just to be 100% sure that it fucking sucks ass
and it does...SO MUCH ASS.
EVERYDAY SHOULD BE PLURSDAY
daftsquirrel, I don't think anyone was comparing the two bands. Someone just mentioned that they might both play in the Gobi, and because they are both smaller billed it's somewhat likely that one might lead into the other. There's no real basis for comparison because the styles are so different. Also because Beach House is so much better.

oh sorry! not comparing (wrong word choice) but talking about the possiblity of a conlfict..how could someone want to see Girls over Beach House?
EVERYDAY SHOULD BE PLURSDAY
I just thought I'd drop in to echo the sentiments of those who are a little confused by comments accusing Beach House of being a dull live band.
A lot of hipsters these days seem to think that the only good live indie music is the danceable kind. Well it's not. If you want to dance head someplace else. Beach House have always been and always will be more shoegaze than electropop. If you know how to close your eyes, sway back and forth, and get lost in the music, it'll be one of the best sets you've ever seen.
On another note, I'm heading back to Coach for the first time since '07. Ya!
Anyone else watched the bonus DVD consisting of music videos for all tracks on Teen Dream?
I wished I hadn't...I LOVE this album to death but these amateurish videos almost runied everything for me. I realize Beach House is not a band that can put a whole lot of money into their videos but geeez.....
Cookie, my boyfriend has the DVD but I have not watched it yet. I'm not a big fan of music videos any way...so now I'll definitely skip out on it.
