Hella excited to see them up there. But being billed so high does this mean he might play main stage before jay-z? or headline Sahara? What do you think?

one of the best live acts I've ever seen, can't wait
Hopefully headline the outdoor theater. I'd love to see them in the Sahara again but I seriously doubt that will happen. They might do the main stage but outdoor would be a better setting for them IMO
how do they work live? post vids to convince me.
I'm really confused with this group. I'm trying to see why everyone's so excited to see them but I can't get myself to enjoy their music at all. They just seem like some mediocre rock band with some glitchy electro sounds in their music. I've been watching live videos, music videos, etc. and I can't seem to get into the vibe.
Here's a couple questions for you guys hopefully this will help me understand this group a bit better.
1. What would you call their music?
2. Do I dance to it like I would to house or is it more like rock?
3. What makes seeing them live unique?
4. How should I approach listening to their music? Lyrics? Music?
5. Anything else?
Hope they bring Nancy, for you see...I have such the crush on her <3<3<3
"All of you coachella 'regulars' have nasty boy pussies and itchy dick4's on your asses.
Why don't you all make like a tree and get chopped down and die. You all have been dreadfully mean to me.
I Hate you. All of you. None of you will ever get to see a womans chest meat or finger blast hott cougies like me.
Fuck you all. Consider this my resignation.
Fair the well, you elitest scumbags."
— Faxman75, who has clearly had enough
The fact that you're being so analytical means you're probably not going to get LCD (or music in general?), but I don't want to be too hard on you since you're trying.
Go here: http://www.lala.com/#artist/LCD_Soundsystem/more/songs
DON'T LISTEN IN ORDER (the first 2 songs are great, but unrepresentative). Listen in this order: 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 17, 22
If you're feeling it, go back and listen to the rest starting at the top.
Of course, they have a new album coming out so no telling how many of these songs will be played vs. new stuff.
Yeah I don't know about these guys from listening to their albums but I hear they put on a hell of a live show so I'll probably check em out.
"Moisture is the essence of wetness... and wetness is the essence of beauty"
45:33 is so fucking good i can't believe it sometimes
I think they're opening for Jay-Z on the mainstage (up against Benassi>deadmau5?). It will be great
"I hear that your band has sold all their guitars, and bought turntables." Thanks for getting that stuck in my head now.
To answer your questions:
1. Technorockfunkypop
2. Both, some you dance to other you're just entranced by (like Someone Great)
3. Haven't seen them yet, that's why I'm checking it out.
4. Start with Sound of Silver, the more commercially successful and then follow it up with the double album and 45:33
5. Hope you enjoy them.
5/15: THE WALL, Phoenix
5/19: Spiritualized, Crescent Ballroom
6/2: Mogwai, Music Box LA
6/19 Jesus and Mary Chain, House of Blues, VEGAS
actually, forget my last post, just watch this instead. This is what the Sahara Tent (*ahem* Goldenvoice) will be like, but x20.
1. Music to shake your ass and make out to.
2. Dance like nobody's watching.
3. They have amazing energy. AMAZING.
4. Dive in. Sound Of Silver. That's their benchmark album.
5. Don't ask so many fuckin questions about music. It's not a painting. Get high. Get drunk. Have fun. Simple.
I'm gonna lose my fucking load watching LCD.
Listen to Sound of Silver (the album) a couple of times. If you're not hooked, you're dead.
If we're lucky something will happen. Some adversity will happen and something unexpected will happen and you'll get tired and you'll get hungry, you'll have trouble going to the bathroom, and you'll lose your car keys, and all these wonderful things will add up to some powerful experience that 10 years from now we'll say "We lived, we lived." - Wayne Coyne on Coachella
Trying to get into this band since I will be seeing them before Jay-Z. Before this lineup I only heard one song on The OC. I'm listening and they seem fun but I want epicness. So I'm a youtube some live shows now. What festivals have they been at? And here's news for the fans
On February 23rd, the official LCD Soundsystem website announced that the album had been completed. Neither a title nor cover art have yet to be announced.
They remind me of a more electronic Bloc Party with a weirder yet more plain singer (if that makes sense). As a big Bloc Party fan I dont know if that's good or bad.
But the youtube looks fun like I thought it would be. Do they have a nice visual set up? Ahh fuck it ill stop being lazy. *goes to youtube*
For me, more than maybe any other act, LCD were one of those bands that didn't really do anything for me at all for ages and then just all fell into place at once. And we've never quarrelled since.
I thought it was sort of repetitive and heartless for ages, and Murphy's voice just sounded cold and lazy to my ears, but one day it just clicked. Deceptively thoughtful I guess. There's a lot of warmth and heart in there, it's just not always immediately apparent. And Murphy's not so much cold and lazy, it's just that he's singing about being tired or jaded or whatever.
Hearing All My Friends in the background, at a great goodbye party for an old friend was probably the one that cracked it for me. I got all sentimental and shit. Don't tell anybody though.
EDIT:
Once more for luck, I suppose.

1. A kind of epileptic indie rock, with a lot of funk and disco influence.
2. You know when you get so drunk you fall into love with the nearest half-conscious mammal and decide to walk the five miles home together, laughing at nothing and wandering onto empty roads the whole way? The kind of dancing you'd do at that point.
3. James Murphy has a winning combination of hapless hero charisma and an frankly inexplicable stage presence. The instrumentation is heavier and the rock elements and individual instruments are a lot more apparent. Their songs are smartly written and fun to hear, and offer a fine balance of catchy hooks, snappy beats and the odd foray into big unembarrassed crowd singalongs.
4. You should look up a bunch of people you haven't spoken to a while, go out together without any plans or curfews, find somewhere sweaty and crowded, where everybody's makeup has run and nobody cares about their sweat patches, and request it from a DJ.
5. Make friends either before or during their set. Don't dance alone.
