Picked up a set Orbital did 8-30-2009 (it's on dime for anyone who's a member there). Here's the set list as a potential preview:
(Lush 3)
Lush (Euro Tunnel Disaster 94 mix)
Impact
Remind
Satan
Belfast
Chime
Crime
Halcyon
The Box
Doctor ?
PM me if you're interested and I can get this to you one way or another. Crystal clear AUD recording.
and yes, I'm as psyched as the rest of you!!
Pretty sweet sounding show, isn't it?
What did you think of the Belinda Carslisle/Bon Jovi mix during Haylcon on + on?
(In the last 30 min)
Was Technologique Park written for XXX or do the Hartnolls have the rights to it, i.e. can play it if they choose?
the first time i heard that i thought my ipod hit shuffle or something and started freaking out. it's extremely out of place but i could imagine after the state of trance and pure happiness that halcyon dumped everyone into that it would bring some real energy to a crowd. i could take it or leave it at coachella though.
If Orbital collides with Gorillaz, I'm gonna do half and half. But will probably watch more of Orbital's set.
Yeah, it's called Technologicque Park. It's one of my favorite Orbital tracks but they haven't been playing it in the 2009 shows. Here's to hoping that changes...
Really? I would only do this if Gorillaz announce some other shows before Coachella. I'm having a hard time really getting excited about Sunday until I see the set times. Having to potentially choose between Gorillaz/Orbital/Thom Yorke/Jonsi might be the most difficult conflict I have ever faced at a festival.
.
I've accepted that between wanting to see Yorke/Gorillaz and really wanting to see Plastikman/Orbital it's going to get ugly. Two full sets with two half sets is a win in my book. Crummy, but what can you do? Any way you slice it from sundown to closing is going to be a phenomenal stretch of live music.
Why Sunday couldn't have been shitty trance day, we'll never know.
orbital vs. thom yorke is a hard decision for you?
orbital vs. gorillaz is a tough choice as well?
srs?
i can't conceive of it being any question. i also loathe thom yorke. gorillaz will be a fun and enjoyable FEELZ GOOD time but nowhere *near* the epic levels of orbital in the middle of the sahara
this basically sealed the deal for me, hands down. chicago 1997 or so was one of the best shows i've been to in my entire life.
Hard? No. A little painful? Certainly. It's very literally choosing between some of the best musical minds on the planet, regardless of what one thinks of their respective sound.
yeah it's just crazy reading these forums and seeing how much speculation goes into how the sets will be organized. obviously this is pretty important but when that time comes, hopefully you have your priorities straight. : )
orbital will throw it down hard. damn im excited....
