Dark Ambient - Biosphere
Dark Ambient - Biosphere
That's how most electronic music is made, by producers. A lot of those subgenres don't have any "bands" associated with them. You could probably list DJs that specialize in particular styles. Check out your local underground party or club flyers for more info on that sorta thing.
Having a group on stage making the music doesn't really make it any better... it's often worse. Attempting to recreate good-sounding electronic music with any sort of live instrumentation is often impossible.
I guess I'm thinking in terms of watching live performances.

I would pay the $800-$900 ticket prices on ebay if Daft Punk were there this year.
and if your into it the best techno out there is on di.fm the site that put all that together.
They have the greatest streaming techno stations. I bought the premium membership for a month a just ripped for a month in 192kbs. So now I have a tons of awsome stuff for what 8 bucks maybe.
My husband showed me this site the other day that shows where many of Daft Punk's samples come from. OMG they totally lifted the main riff from Robot Rock from another song.

check out the Break Beat section and click the "Electro Funk" tab in the Ishkur's Guide to Electronic Music. And then click the 6th song on the list.
Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger
Discovery is very awesome.. I do think that the Interstella songs do get old though.. Alive 97 is fucking wicked sweet.. I was hoping their Coachella was going to be like that, but was even MORE impressed.
Lol.. they put "clownstep" in that list.. AKA Pendulum..

one cannot classify daft punk in any genre of music. daft punk is daft punk.
I think they're DJs?
