Just checked them out this week and i'm really enjoying it so far! They're sort of a minimalist, minor-key New Order with half-spoken call and response vocals. The guitar at least really reminds me of Hooky's basslines.

There are a whole slew of bands/artists who sorta half-sing, half-complain. I LOVE Beck, but he's rarely putting much strain on his vocal chords.

That said, I don't get bands like The xx as major festival draws - they're laid-back, not particularly butt-shakingly danceable, and not loud. I'd rather see a mildly irritating guitar band (some would say Wolfmother qualifies, but I dig them) on an outdoor stage than this type of band... unless they had amazing charisma (like Beck) or a great stage show (like the Flaming Lips).
