saw the pictures from Bunny on rukes, looked like a good time. There was a mix up on Avalons site from Lee Burridge on Friday, anyone get that? It's not available for download anymore but I have a feeling it may have been at one point.

My thoughts on Bunny's show:
I've seen RiTM a number of times live. The first time was really neat. Every subsequent time after that became less of a thrill. Primarily because over the course of a decade, their show never changed. So I was kind of interested to see how Bunny would tackle a visual spectacle on his own.
In the end, I liked it, but it was probably a lot cooler for people who'd never seen a RiTM show. He had some new costumes, as well as a bunch of female dancers who were wearing bunny shaped gas masks and the outfit Milla Jovovich's character from the Fifth Element wore (although in red and black... not white)... The 3D aspect of the visuals was kind of cool. (Although from where I was positioned on the stage, the glasses were useless. Definitely needed to be centered on the floor. Even if you were closer to the sides, it really didn't work).
On the downside, for me personally, there were a number of costumes I've seen a bunch before and musically it was unimpressive. Instead of the same RiTM numbers at every show we got what was essentially a DJ set that can be heard from any number of lackluster DJs. Like I would say it was a Beatport top 20 set, but even THAT would be giving it too much credit.
All in all.. I'd give it maybe a B-... and it only is raised from a C by virtue of it at least bringing a visual element that nobody else does. Which still gets credit, even if some of it is a retread of things I'd already seen.
Boy 8 Bit and Rico Tubbs on Friday. Yuppppp.
Oh man... Found out this week that Fred Falke is booked for October 7th! I am going to lose my pretty little mind that night.
That's going to be insane.

07/15: DROP THE LIME, COLD BLANK, MR. WHITE
07/22: LE CASTLE VANIA, ZEDD, LAZY RICH
08/05: STANTON WARRIORS, KRAFTY KUTS, BREAKDOWN

COACHELLA '06 '07 '08 '09 '10 '11

08/24 - Shlohmo
09/01 - FYF Fest
09/11 - Swans
10/06 - Mono
10/13 - The XX
Man the last couple weeks have sucked... at least musically they have... I always manage to hang with good friends and drink on the cheap, so overall I can't complain TOO much...
but what I really want to say is how excited I am for the 12th. Especially now that J.Phlip is playing along side Green Velvet.
And there are some great nights coming up after that too... September 9th and October 7th, particularly.
But jesus christ the music tonight and last Friday was offensive...
You didn't enjoy Kids at the Bar?! Ive been a big fan since seeing them open for The Sounds in March....the new remixes and material have been awesome for some random OKC electro. That being said. I wasnt able to make tonight, because of work. How were they?
Upcoming Shows:
Pitchfork Festival: 7/19 @ Union Park
Mountain Oasis Festival: 10/25-27
Honestly I couldn't tell you who was who at any point in the night for sure, but I want to say that they were the ones who played fucking Save The World twice. But overall, the music was better than last week.
Actually, that's not entirely true... There was one person who stood out from the rest... the opener playing shitty blog house. I mean, clearly low quality mp3s which made Avalon's system sound muddy as hell. Nothing but tired tracks and anthems which everyone has heard before... I doubt this guy has ever dug for a track in his life.
but enough with the negativity... I literally just got an email that's going to make October 7th even more amazing for me. I mean, I knew the night was going to be awesome... Fred Falke and Lifelike will make for an amazing night. But I was just asked to have Social Cues open and close the night out. So fucking excited for that one. Fred Falke is a favorite producer of mine. his remix of Golden Cage is easily one of my top 10 tracks of the last five years. So fucking amazing.
Any info on Huoratron's comeback?

I get paid tonight, stellar. I'll see you at both! (Amon Tobin at Fox Pomona makes Crookers possible, sweet)
Update on all of the upcoming shows:
August 19: Dieselboy, Downlink & Smash Gordon
August 26: Sinden, Hatiras, Alvin Risk & Franki Chan
September 2: Riva Starr & Prince Club
September 9: Sebastian (Live) & Sharooz
September 16: Crookers
September 23: Evol Intent & High Rankin
September 30: Drop The Lime & Alex Metric
October 7: Fred Falke, Lifelike & Anoraak LIVE
October 14: Chris Lake & Style Of Eye
couple things to add to that:
September 23rd also includes MJ Cole. REALLY curious to see what he does with a DJ set these days. Last time I saw him was around 2001/2002
September 30th's Drop The Lime date is DTL with full live band! Caught him with a live band when he opened for Fischerspooner two years ago in DC and it was fantastic. Apparently he's grown the band a bit since then.
October 7th... just because I'm fucking excited as hell about this... also on the lineup is Social Cues! So stoked to be playing this one. HUGE Fred Falke fan.
thanks for the info spiggums. love alex metric and DTL with a live band sounds kinda interesting. may go to that.
Just came across all the new dates, updated the first post.
Picked up tickets for SebastiAn / Sharooz and Fred Falke / Lifelike.
Yeah.

09/11 - Swans

You may want to remove the info for 11/11 from the first post.
My understanding is that the night has changed drastically. (although honestly what I have heard is being worked on instead is far more exciting to me... despite how much that lineup would have rocked my world)
Done. I was beginning to wonder about that date.

I didn't know anything about Eva, but in the end... I think she won the night.
Hell she even made me feel OK about dubstep. And that breaks remix of Something I Can Never Have? what the fuck was that? Awesome, clearly. But totally unexpected.
Good night all around. Although I think Krafty Kuts could have slowed his roll some with all the drops of his name (seriously, he pretty much dropped some sort of vocal between each song shouting out his name), but technically he was solid. Scratching up a storm. (side note: I love when DJs are scratching on CDJs. If only cause people still try to argue that you can't, and it's retarded)
Super stoked for next week though. Definitely going to be more my speed. Been a hot minute since I've seen a DJ set from Green Velvet (as either Green Velvet or Cajmere). PLUS Jphlip is always a treat. And given that the last two times Jessica was here she opened, it'll be nice to see her play a proper set time.
Everyone better be at Green Velvet this Friday. It's free before 11 on the guest list.
