Is this a no-kill trap or like a snap break your neck thing?

I don't remember specifically where you live but there may be a feral cat colony where you could drop the cat(s) off.

You could also put up wire fencing around the plants you'd like to protect - like my sister has to do for javelina and such around her house.

If you want to go higher tech you they also make motion-activated ultrasonic noise devices or sprinklers.

Sprinkling coyote and fox urine might keep the cats from peeing in your yard.

Ivy, that is an excellent idea. I should go do that as well.

And I also like the alcohol idea. It's pretty difficult to fuck up a bottle of beer or a shot of named liquor.

    no-kill, absolutely.

Me not wanting them doing their thing in my yard doesn't mean I want them dead.

I hadn't seen that around but I will look. I have used some non-toxic stuff you sprinkle, but that did absolutely nothing.

I just sent an email to the wife. I've proposed walking and crusing around the old neightborhoods we used to live in. I may use the gift certificate during one of these trips. Maybe a blue moon (coors) will be in stock.
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

Your dog is probably sitting there thinking to herself, "I wonder how long and how much money he blows on these stupid ideas before he realizes that I'm here and can take care of this cat issue..." Or, Maddie's pissed off at you because you keep chasing her friends away when they come by to visit.
Its like the Infinite Monkey Theorem, if you put X amount of monkeys in a room with a typewriter and ask them to give you Shakespeare 99% of them will fling their shit at you while the other 1% will masturbate in the corner.

You could also try getting a hold of a Deadmau5 head and then dance around your front yard singing, "Here, kitty,kitty,kitty..."

We were asked to leave not just once but twice on Christmas Day. If I had it my way, I would've left within the hour.
So much for a Welcome Home and driving out of state for the holidays quasi-Mother-in-law!
It was a really good day overall, but if she wants to pull this shit one more time, third strike you're out Madre! (not the first time we've been asked to leave over the holidays) *face palm*

Also, I won a really nice TV at my company Christmas party, which we didn't need. We decided to give it to my MiL, who had a crappy old TV in her living room. We made her wait in the kitchen while my husband brought it in. She said she felt like she won the lottery.

    That offset the ugly?

She's an emotional wad of angry and contempt who happens to always take it out on her oldest. Not to mention being divorced for only 8 months has made her hyper sensitive.
But anyways, my son has TWO NERF guns--it wasn't intentional. But we can now have a NERF war in the house. Oh goodie. Hahaha
