and 130 gets you access to what? sonar music going on all day and all night. but it's ticketed separately. I only went to the night stuff, and had separate tickets each night. I forget what I paid exactly... but it was well worth it.

    over from the chems thread...

I'm not sure when the full lineup is announced. I went last summer. I'd definitely go back if it was convenient. I'll write a summary. if you have particular questions do ask.

sonar has daytime and nighttime music. I think you could probably see stuff 24 hours if you wanted. daytime and nighttime are ticketed separately, and in different parts of town. I don't know much about what goes on during the day, I only attended at night.

sonar by night is awesome. it's held in a warehouse in some industrial looking part of town. they have a free shuttle from a convenient point in town to take you there and back. it's partially indoors, partially outdoors.

music goes on until 6 am or maybe even beyond. mostly EDM. solid, solid lineup. decent crowd, it's not all ravers. I don't recall seeing any candee kids there actually. lots of adults. 3 stages and a bumper car ride. there was decent sized crowds, but also plenty of space to move around & dance and stuff.

beware of buying drugs there. there was lots and lots of bogus pills floating around. they had a drug testing table with many warnings up. lots of mcPP, which I had never heard of until that day.

they advertise themselves as a festival of "music and multimedia art". I didn't see anything that resembled multimedia art there. looking at their photos, it looks like those are either present in sonar by day, or in separate venues entirely. not sure. don't expect much to look at during sonar by night. but don't expect to need it either. the music alone kept me quite happy.

    I have some pictures...

I arrived pretty early one night:

wow, thanks! that looks and sounds awesome. i'm 90% sure i'm gonna go to this. i'll probably only go to saturday's night installment...i'm assuming the chems will play at night? (i'll definitely think of more questions later)

    Smile Re: Sonar Festival 2010

Hey thanks for posting the photos brochella and shakermaker113; that lineups looking good dorkfish!

I`m from Vancouver, Canada and I`ve decided to go to Sonar this year, but I'm not too sure what to expect logistically.

Does anyone know how transportation works from Barcelona to the Sonar by Night venue? Are there regular coach buses going up and down 24/7 and do we book them in advanced? It is easy to get to?

I'm just not sure how to work out the logistics around it from afar. Any tips would be much appreciated

there's a regular shuttle going back and forth every few minutes. I forget if it is free or if it costs a couple of euros. no need to plan ahead, just show up and the busses will take you there. they pick you up by the columbus monument is las ramblas if I remember correctly, which is easy to get to.

does sonar usually sell out? i'm trying to go saturday night, but it looks as though you need to enter your passport number to get your ticket, and i won't have my passport for another 3 weeks or so

why the heck would you need a passport number?

I showed up without tickets last year. I'm not sure whether it had sold out, I never found the box office. I found people with extras on the bus over there and bought from them. I wouldn't worry about it.

oh -- I can only speak for sonar by night. no idea about the day stuff.

when i went to get my tickets online it asked for my passport number. i'll probably just them the day of like you, but i thought maybe with the chems playing (all their roundhouse shows at the UK have sold out) it would be a hot ticket. thanks for ze feedback
