My second opportunity to see Guns n' Roses was during the mega tour with Metallica and Faith No More. I was here in Arizona visiting my dad for the summer and he was really starting to get into the Black album by Metallica. The commercial came on tv for the show and I got so excited, I was 16. My dad was going to take me as he was a concert junkie himself and then the end of the commercial came with the date. The concert was about 6 days after I was supposed to fly back to Chicago. At the time it's safe to say nothing was getting more rotation in my Sony Walkman than Use Your Illusions, Metallica's Black album and Faith No More Angel Dust..

To this day I have never seen any of the three bands. Metallica is now a band I have zero interest in. What can I say. I dig Axl's voice and the musicians he has now may not be the same but they are decent and they can play from what I have heard. I dunno. I'm holding onto a dream. lol At least I will see Faith No More this year though.

Ultimately the first concert my dad took me too was George Thorogood.

I've read they're rumored for Bonnaroo....but fuck them, and keep them away from Coachella at all costs.

Bonnaroo does seem to make a whole lot more sense and you wouldn't be that pissed if they didn't show because there is so much else to see there. I'm fairly certain we will never see them near Coachella. A boy can dream though Erik.

No disrespect at all for the frist time, but why the hell would anyone wanna see Guns N Roses now? They are a horrible incarnation from the joke that was the lineup for Use Your Illusion. They have proven over and over again they were best left in the past with such great memories of what was.

i worked for gnr's manager for several years, so i got to hear all the good stories basically right from the horses mouth...oh the stories.

i was the biggest gnr fan when i was a kid, imagine the first time i picked up the phone and axl was on the line, it was intense.

saw the last tour and it was still pretty entertaining, had a great night even though they didn't come on until after midnight, played for 2.5 to 3 hours, got home at 4, and the kid was up at 6. that day after sucked, haha!

I got to see them in '88 opening for Aerosmith ....

I had no idea they were even playing, my dad's friend asked us the day of the show if we wanted free tickets to see Aerosmith

lucky fucking coincidence.....Guns 'N' Roses were fucking opening...when I was a kid, I thought it was the coolest thing in the world...

saw them the next year open for the Stones, and that was pretty incredible too....I was a year older and remember the details better than the Aerosmith show.....it's funny, because as a kid, I was terribly bored by the Stones...way before I got into them..bummer, that was the only time I've seen them

then at the Forum with Skid Row......that was absolutely them at the top of their game....about 3 hours of frenetic, insane energy

I still remember my dad pointing out to my friend and i, all the girls flashing the camera and being projected onto the huge video screens...while waiting like 2 hours for the band to setup


Guns/Metallica....although it was them starting to fall apart, was still a pretty rad show...watching Slash sprint the stage the entire time, jumping off 15' risers was always fun

GNR are getting some fantastic reviews of late. It's also worth mentioning Axl isn't touring with a bunch of hacks. He does have Tommy Fucking Stinson of the Replacements along for the ride as well. I'm fairly certain he is pretty respected.

If you’ve been following all the hoopla surrounding Guns N’ Roses‘ current international tour, you’ll know that Axl Rose still knows how to cause a scene, the band’s changed up the set list drastically, and yes, Axl has dropped the braids. But, what you probably don’t know, despite reports from the Korea Times, is that the new Guns sound really, really good, too. In fact, if you weren’t looking at ‘em, you’d swear it was the old band sleazing it up.

Two nights ago in Seoul, Axl & Co. jumped right into a flawless performance of “Sweet Child o’ Mine”, and one fan snagged it all. Shot with an HD camera, the video captures the band in top form. Everything looks solid here. Axl’s running around hitting every note, even donning the trademark bandana, new guitarist DJ Ashba looks like a hipper Slash (Check out the hat!), and drummer Frank Ferrer slams each beat with both precision and joy. If you look closely, you’ll also notice one Tommy Stinson giving it all he’s got on the bass, swinging around and around as if he’s having the time of his life. Probably because he is.

It’s hard to take this band seriously, especially given the mythos surrounding ‘em, but if things continue like this, it’s going to be hard to avoid buying a ticket. Bonnaroo? Rothbury? Fingers crossed, actually. Yes, fingers crossed.

Duff is fine and all but they improved in that area as they now have Tommy Stinson.

Backstage Axl exchanged some words with Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love. According to Michael Azerrad's book "Come As You Are The Story Of Nirvana" Courtney asked Axl if he wanted to be the godfather of their child. Axl said " You shut your bitch up or I'm taking you down to the pavement!" to Kurt. Kurt glared at Courtney and said "Shut up, bitch!". The Nirvana entourage exploded in laughter.

Yes. Izzy was a bit more important. I think most people just like to repeat what they read and hear though. Rather than listen and see if it's decent, lets just dismiss it because the guy with the big top hat isn't part of it. The fact is he has capable musicians who are playing the music just fine. I wonder how many people if blind folded would be able to distinguish between Slash or Thal if they were blind folded at a show while Sweet Child O' Mine played. I remember when buckethead appeared on the MTV video awards, the crowd was so clueless they were convinced it was Slash up there.

I also read somewhere that once Slash offered Nirvana an opening spot on their tour. Kurt declined because he thought Axl was too big of a douchebag (or something along those line). Slash respected his decision.
