Thread: My I-told-you-so 2010 prediction thread

Default My I-told-you-so 2010 prediction thread

So that if I happen to nail all of these, I have proof.

    Cotton Jones
    GIRLS
    Empire of the Sun
    She & Him
    BRMC
    Animal Collective
    Rusko
    Pete Yorn and Scarlett
    Grizzly Bear
    Yeasayer
    Hot Chip
    Kid Cudi
    Z-Trip
    A bunch of Frenchies (Justice?)

    And my most important 3:
    Passion Pit
    Phoenix (Closing outdoor theater)
    MGMT (Closing Sahara)

Possible Headliners (I don't know which three):
U2 (Their US tour starts in June, but maybe?)
    Jay-Z
    John Mayer
    Tom Petty
Bowie (I doubt it, but maaaaybe)
Brian Wilson (Since Paul played last year, he pretty much has to right?)
Daft will be pretty close to a new album, which means a tour is certainly in the works, but probably too early.

MGMT in the Sahara? Yeah, no way that's going to bite you in the ass.

Yeah, but Sahara is always last - and they should play last.

... what? What the fuck are you talking about? Why in the fuck would MGMT--a rock band--play in the Sahara--the dance music tent?

The fact that every dance act alive has remixed their shit should be a very obvious clue about who their audience is. Drugs, the cubatron, and MGMT - it's a goddamn match made in heaven.

    You're an idiot.

I am telling you now that not one of those possible headliners will play Coachella.

Yeah, headliners are the toughest part for sure. You have 4 decades of music to choose from. I was thinking, KoL might be a possibility too, along the lines of Death Cab a couple years ago. I'm not sure they're that huge though.

They have referred to themselves as "neo-psychadelia" - I completely agree. And that's the most psychadelic thing ever made. Just ask anyone sitting around it.

I'll tell you right now, Animal Collective are NOT playing. Anyone who listens to AC obsessively know that if any of the members happens to play next year, it will be Panda Bear, and that ain't fucking likely either.

Yeah, I know, but the last time they (AC) played coachella there were about 50 people there in the Gobi tent (I think) - I was there. They've gotten a little bigger since then. So they're due.

There is already a thread for this. There was a line up pool. You missed the deadline.

These are all safe picks beyond Animal Collective and Grizzly Bear, neither of which is happening.

More safe picks, and MGMT isn't closing out the Sahara you jackass.

No and, arguably, Brian Wilson isn't a big enough draw TO headline.

So, in summation, go fuck yourself.
    Upcoming Shows:
    * Dillon Francis + Anamanaguchi -- December 28th

Going to Weekend 1 of Coachella 2014

I don't think Brian Wislon could take the heat - I mean quite literally. He would have everyone dancing & having a great time - buy I am not sure that he is fit enough to take the 100 degrees for 90 minutes.

Aren't they pretty much done touring Veckatimest in the states at this point? Or maybe I missed something, I don't know. I have seen them twice in the last 7 months which is probably affecting my judgment.

Yeah, with how huge vekatimist was this year, and how popular that show was last time they played, GB seems like a lock.

As for BW, it's always like 70deg at night. And you know he'll have a heli - Paul did (I think - there were a lot of em flying around an hour or so before he played).

If worst came to worst I would much rather have this:

Either way, I'll probably be somewhere else and not subjecting myself to them again. The idea of them actually closing out the Sahara is ridiculous.

There were only 50 people in the tent because practically everyone else was at the mainstage for Portishead.

there was more like a couple hundred people there and that was because they were playing at the same time as Postishead. And it was the Mojave.
