I attribute some of that to alcohol, and a lot to 10+ years of expectations based on stories of their shows in the 70s. There was no way they could recapture that; instead, they laughed in the old Suicide's face, and I now appreciate that.

Drunk Bryan's exit from Suicide was probably just as violent and punk rock as what he had expected to see on stage. I was 100% certain that he ran off to go puke in the lake.

So the Pixies are touring with Fuck Buttons throughout the US during September. I doubt they'd play since the Breeders are already scheduled, but who knows.

You're nuts!! There is a ton of space for a headliner on all 3 days and no date is anywhere close to booked solid. Friday is nowhere near full either. I'm almost guaranteeing Doolittle.. They're with fuck buttons, deal is already here, and the band is to be in Philly a few days after the event

I'm just saying I'm gonna say super doubtful because with Stooges, Sonic Youth, EITS and Breeders I'm guessing there's not enough cash for TWO more headliner announcements since that Jarmusch hole is prolly gonna need filling before they bring a 30-piece orchestra up in there

Both are within the realm of possibility. Crazier things have happened at many a ATP. Although I would not personally be thrilled with either of them...

Yeah, on some level I would love to see Pixies play Doolittle but I don't see how it'd fit with Friday as currently constructed. The Stooges, the Scientists and Mudhoney form a nice, neat chain. Maybe Sleep could be seen as the next step in that chain but it is at least a side step... but regardless they fit in perfectly.

Pixies do not make sense with that set. Doesn't mean they couldn't be enjoyed and maybe such rock shows should not have that sort of clarity but shit.


And I would be shocked if Sonic Youth were not the Saturday headliner.

i agree that that Doolittle would be a money issue, but just the timing of everything and the fact that Deal is already playing the fest, AND the fact that they're touring not only with a band who is playing the fest, but is on ATP/R makes me think that something came together to make it happy. Honestly I would be 1000000x happier if ATP was the first promoters who got them to do Surfer Rosa.

And we'll see about saturday. I wouldn't be surprised if they were, but I wouldn't be shocked if they weren't. When I said headliners I meant to fill up the top 4 spots(headlining and just preceding stage 1 and same for stage 2)
