Salem's King Night is definitely one of the stranger things I've heard. It was pleasant to listen to on a night drive though.

agreed. and, Summerkid...it's all contained in this thread man. i know it's dense, but if you really want some suggestions, just skim through here. Blackswan also started a "mid-way through the year best-of list thread" as well. check that out.

This thread and the "so we're halfway through 2010" thread both really go into great detail. i and others ahve spent a lot of time discussing and describing and posting videos of stuff like we've liked. Rather than just compiling a list (though the other thread has a lot of those) I'd urge you to just take some time and even start at the beginning of this thread. There's a ton of great suggestions!

Yeah I am finding myself oddly drawn to it. I keep listening to it repeatedly and I'm not sure why. Parts of it feel like more interesting club rap which is a strange feeling.

Actually I think I know what it is. A lot of the synth work reminds me of older M83, and that combined with the club rap hi hat/snare sound is somehow working for me.

I'm completely and totally obsessed with The Wild Hunt by The Tallest Man on Earth. One of the only LPs in recent memory where I finished it and immediately flipped it over and started it again. Definitely in my top 5 for the year.

I'm 100% with you. His whole body of work is incredible. I wasn't sure how I felt about him when I first listened... but now he's one of my favorite artists. I'm glad Hannah got me into him before Sasquatch.

I'm seeing him at this venue next to my apartment in a week or so. Incredibly excited.

That venue looks like a set from a David Lynch film.

Jealous about the show. The venue looks awesome. I started listening to him because of Hannah as well but it didn't click in a big way for whatever reason until recently. All of his stuff is fantastic.

I think that's the case with a lot of people. You should check out his videos from Pukkelpop 2010. The audience participation is great.

I'm definitely on board with this, I couldn't stop listening to it, and then when it hit me, man did it hit me. I was surprised so few people had it in their top albums so far this year. I still listen to it pretty regularly, some of the songs still really gut me. I'm bummed I won't be able to see him in 2 weeks, I just hope he nabs a Coachella spot or tours more.

Hell yeah, Odd Future is the tits, especially Earl. I can't believe this kid is only 16, some of the shit that comes out his mouth pretty dark.

Oh, and definitely in agreement about the Salem record. I enjoy listening to it while driving.

I have listened to the entirety of Crippled Black Phoenix's I, Vigilante several times now and it is a fucking beast, absolutely beautiful from start to finish. It's monstrous post rock with an almost bizarre classic rock/psychedelic ending, and it is done so well.

Dignan Porch - Tendrils is a pretty typical Captured Tracks release. Kind of hazy, kind of lo-fi, a bit noisy, a bit rough around the edges. Definitely poppy though. It got stronger as the album went on. I'll probably buy it.
