My friends keep raving about this band Candy Claws, but they make me yawn. I can't see the point of this stuff. Anyone else heard it?
I haven't heard a whole lot of their music, however for a while last year I was obsessed with this song:
I am neither foxy, nor a lady.
Neil Young - Kanye West - Beck - PJ Harvey - The Knife - Basement Jaxx - Tom Waits - Shpongle (Live) - Flying Lotus (Live) - The Avalanches - Autechre - Eels - Fat Freddy's Drop - Liquid Liquid - OFWGKTA - Freddie Gibbs - Big K.R.I.T. - Phantogram - Christian Scott - Nosaj Thing - Gold Panda - James Blake
wow. Sean McCann's "Fountains" is really wonderful. It's a return to his older, strictly ambient work. Probably the most relaxing album I've heard this year.
I'm really getting into two albums that both have a really solid blend of shoegaze, dream pop, and post pop influences. They're definitely similar bands, and the entirety of these albums are really clicking with me
Tears Run RIngs - Distance
Film School - Fission
Add me to the Mines devotional. Also, the new Vaselines gets the seal of approval.
So speaking of Mines is the general consensus that Menomena is pretty good live? I feel like I've read off & on things here...I am super excited about seeing them in a few weeks
i think they are worse live. seen 'em twice and they just can't capture much of the studio work.
I am going to keep my fingers crossed.
the two Menomena sets i've seen have been good. I can't wait to see them again at the casbah of all places, next month. I don't know how many of you have listened to the suckers(band opening for Menomena) album, but you should get on it. Listen to Loose Change, Save Your Love For Me, and It Gets Your Body Movin' and that should give you a good idea if you'll enjoy the band. Good pop music, with some interesting ideas.

Good call on Suckers! This is totally right up my alley. Reminds me a lot of Who Knew, who I'm also really digging right now. I see after Menomena they're touring Europe with Yeasayer, and that's a really excellent match for them as well.
i am checking out Tu Fawning, the other Menomena opener right now and am really digging this as well. They had an ep in 2008 and a first full length out this October so i'm just listening to the couple myspace songs they have up, but I'm really digging it! This is going to be a good show. I hardly ever even show up early enough for openers anymore unless I'm really sure.
The new Royksopp is so mellow, groovy and sexy that it makes my tummy feel warm and fuzzy. Excellent album for making sweet sweet love and/or taking your drug of choice.
seconded on the new Sword slayage. glad i waited for the good rip.
Also, Gun Outfit's Possession Sound came out when I was super busy a few months ago and I totally missed the release. Just listened to it now, and it is one of my favorite things I have heard so far this year. Had to order the LP from Norman Records because it is sold out with all US retailers that I checked. Really good record, check it out.
The Wild Hunt by The Tallest Man on Earth gets better every time I listen to it. Can't wait to see him again in a few weeks.
