I think they changed them the year after I took it. So '05? Ours were out of 1600 but the SAT 2 was out of 2400.

I have good memories of certain classes, some people, the radio station, and walking around campus, but I have many horror stories from UCLA. But, YMMV, really.

To actually answer the question you posed, San Francisco's local scene isn't all that impressive in my opinion. The best local bands like the Oh Sees, Girls, Fresh & Onlys, Brilliant Colors, Grass Widow all seem to be identifying more with Brooklyn right now. I don't know much about LAs music scene, but it seems like there is always something happening there every night.

However, don't choose a school based on bands.

i blaze a lot. i am laid back and easy going. so people always tell me i would fit in more at berkeley. i love going to shows and festivals and i really like a lot of bands that i think are from la im not sure tho. some of them are the entrance band, the growlers, thee oh sees, the strange boys, slipping into darkness, a lot of punk, garage rock and psychadelic stuff. i think if i go to berkeley everyone might be too focused on their studies to have fun but i dont really know

Like everyone said, choosing a school because of the music scene that surrounds it is pretty silly, but for my two cents you sound like you obviously fit in more at Berkeley and you already know this. Coincidentally, on top of all that, you're taste in music fits in much more with San Francisco's.

ya i did research. i went on a road trip too. berkeley was on break at the time so i didnt get to meet anyone but the city was really nice and the school was too. los angeles seemed like a bunch of stressed out asians. i dono maybe i went at the wrong time.

btw if anyone is interested i found a pretty cool sf band called wooden shjips

Hey, when I went to school the highest GPA was 4.0. Now you can get, what, up to a 5.0?

You can't actually get a 5.0 because that would require all AP classes each year. No school offers that many AP classes for freshman/sophomores.

FOr what it's worth, I loved my experience at UCLA. I got to plan concerts, I met some great people, and LA has a great music scene. My classes were good, but in retrospect I would have probably enjoyed smaller classes. That's not a big concern between the two schools though, because Berkeley classes are just as big.

They changed like over a decade ago, John, to soften the lower end of the curve. To make up for it they raised the point total.

If you're into indie music then it's often a wash, but if you're into underground EDM at all then LA blows.
