i am trying to decide whether to go to ucla and ucb. i know that la has a sick music scene but someone was telling me that san francisco does too. what do you guys think

i blaze a lot. i am laid back and easy going. so people always tell me i would fit in more at berkeley. i love going to shows and festivals and i really like a lot of bands that i think are from la im not sure tho. some of them are the entrance band, the growlers, thee oh sees, the strange boys, slipping into darkness, a lot of punk, garage rock and psychadelic stuff. i think if i go to berkeley everyone might be too focused on their studies to have fun but i dont really know

also i love blues bands. what do you mean by head shots

and berkely is fun. it's the only time i ever went to a frat party and actually like most of the people there, lol. plus, if you ever get into a fight with the guy you're staying with and he leaves you in the hall alone to sleep in the cold, your dormmates will nicely offer you food & a place to crash till he returns... err, at least in my experience that's how it works.

I applied to every school (except the one I'm at now) as a Lit major. I don't consider that "impacted."

All I know is that this annoying kid I went to high school with got in, and it's only because he was an Armenian immigrant. That kid had shit for brains.

Also, you deserve to get rejected from everywhere you apply if you're applying/choosing based on the music scene. Ugh!

I could understand, "Hey, do bands come play in these cities? I'm nervous about moving to buttfuck Vermont."

But saying, "What cities have cooler bands?" is beyond lame. If there's anyone worth seeing, they'll fucking TOUR to your GODDAMN CITY.

It depends on the school. At UCSD, any retard could apply to lit and get in. My major (bioengineering) was EXTREMELY impacted and tough to get into because the department was ranked in the top 5. And there was no way to get around that, either - you couldn't transfer from another major/undecided into BENG. You were either admitted outright as a freshman or you were not doin' it.

Conversely, a lot of iconic east coast schools would be much harder to get into as a liberal arts major because their science programs actually kind of suck and anyone who knows anything doesn't want to go to a sucky program.
