I'm headed Saturday to Terminal 5 for the New Deal. Stuck in Pearl River tonight still for work, but tomorrow will be in Brooklyn.

I'm out of town until Sunday, so please don't fuck Brooklyn up too badly while I'm away.

I'm not gonna lie. I would probably be more excited to see St. Vincent performing Big Black than anything else. But that entire lineup is pure win.

If that entire thing isn't videotaped for the internet world to see, I'm going to rebuild the WTC and crash more planes into it.

Yes - It was phenomenal. I'm not really a fan of South Park, but I hit a press event a month prior to the opening of The Book of Mormon and found Stone and Parker to be a lot more interesting than I'd given them credit for.

OK, enough with the flirting with NY. No more occasional weekends in the city, I am moving out. I leave in a couple weeks. I have a job (even if it is in Jersey.) Woo?

Woo! If you're living in the city, you should enjoy the relatively mellow reverse commute.

I'm staying a couple days in NYC after ATP in October. I'm debating on getting a ticket. As an avid SP watcher I want to see it so bad!

That is the plan. I will be in Hells Kitchen, and my commute'll just be a walk to Port Authority and a 20 minute bus ride.

Hell's Kitchen has really come around since my childhood. The tourism of Broadway threatens to spill into the neighborhood at times, but the advantage is that there's a lot of great restaurants there now. Giorgio's Country Grill has some pretty terrific shakes.

Hi New York. I will be visiting August 10 through 15. I will be going to Bon Iver and The Rosebuds at Prospect Park. I will also be going to Sonic Youth, Kurt Vile and WILD FLAG at the Williamsburg Waterfront (what happened to McCarren Pool?). I plan to do my best not to pass out from the heat. Whooooomp.

New York: I want to visit you. I've never been. My job will be ending at the end of February, so I'm thinking about sometime in March, maybe for an entire week. Please note that I may be coming to you instead of vacationing in some sort of warm, tropical paradise, because I hear you are great and will keep me intellectually stimulated, entertained, and in a perpetual state of gluttony.

    9/12: Shifted @ Mercer
    9/24 - 28: Decibel Festival
    10/3-5: Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival
    10/4: Ought @ BoH
10/5: The War on Drugs, Cass McCombs @ The Fillmore
    10/18-19: Treasure Island Music Festival

The food options here are ridiculous. I haven't even made it back to the best ramen place we found last year for ATP because there are so many other great places. I have eaten avocado fries, Thai noodle soup with the most tender beef, pork buns, a chocolate almond croissant and coconut, mango and chocolate tofu yogurt. There will be plenty of fantastic food.

There will be more shows than you will be able to see and thus far I have loved the venues here.

If you come here in February/March, though, it is likely you will also be cold as all hell.

Hit up McSorely's. One of the oldest bars in the country. Run by a bunch of surly Irishmen. http://www.mcsorleysnewyork.com/

Also, can't go wrong with the Metropolitan.

Where in NYC are you going to be? What other constraints might you have? What do you want to do?

I rather like the American Museum of Natural History off Central Park.

I would suggest some Mercury Lounge shows: Two Gallants on Tuesday (I'll be there) or Japandroids on Wednesday but both are sold out. You could still see Fruit Bats/Vetiver/Citay, the Dodos, Steve Earle or Erasure or any of a number of other non-sold out shows at other venues.

If the weather is nice walking across the Brooklyn Bridge or Williamsburg bridge can give you a nice view of the river/city. It could be lovely to walk around Prospect Park, too.

I have no idea about pastrami on rye or lox, sorry.

For food/drink in Brooklyn I can recommend the duck hash, etc at Egg, and/or a massive plate of slow cooked meats at Fette Sau. There is a great bar across from Fette Sau called Spuyten Duyvil that has good Belgian beer (etc) and a patio out back. Barcade is fun, too.

In my neighborhood - Hell's Kitchen, Midtown West - there is great Thai all over and also near everything else. The Pony Bar has a strong selection of draft beers from small breweries.
