Exactly this. I make a point of going here whenever in the city. Get there when they open or in that "too late for lunch/too early for dinner" time for the shortest line.



I am quite fond of Barcade in Brooklyn. Gotta love having a couple too many and then failing at Paperboy and Punch-Out.

Xi'an (there's one in Chinatown and one in Flushing Meadows) is some of the best authentic Chinese food I've ever had. Also, Denino's in Staten Island is the best pizza I've eaten. If you can make it out to Staten Island and figure out how to get around, there is also a great Italian Ice place and a few really fun bars.

I have only been here a couple months and have thus far just used The Bowery Presents. They put on the shows at Mercury Lounge, Music Hall of Williamsburg, the Bowery Ballroom, Terminal 5, the Wellmont Theatre and more.

If I want more I go to Oh My Rockness, which has a really stupid name but covers far more shows. It focuses on "indie" shows but it is somewhat broad in practice.

I have yet to find an aggregator for classical & opera, Broadway and talky theater but I am looking.

Today I am sick and that means we are not using our Two Gallants tickets. They are playing the Mercury Lounge. It is sold out. Show at 9:30, TG at 10:30. Holla if you want them.

Hey NYers, how's everyone doing? I'm guessing everyone is in a frothing mouth frenzy over Radiohead at Roseland, but who's hitting up some of the great shows happening this week?

Girls has a free show at Other Music Wednesday, Black Moth Super Rainbow at LPR Thursday, and the Rapture Friday. I'm also thinking of waiting in line Friday to try and get into the Radiohead SNL show...though that's kind of insane.

Hey, I am good. I am happy to have the option of trying for tickets to see Radiohead I am going to pass; they will not upstage ATP for me.

This is indeed a fantastic week for shows... though I may only make it to maybe Evangelista on Friday and Evangelista or Fucked Up on Saturday. Oh, and Elbow on Sunday. That is enough for me, I say.

If you wait to try to get into SNL let me know and I may be able to stop by with provisions/well wishes/etc; that is only two blocks from here.

There are many great shows already - Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings (2 shows,) the National (4 shows,) My Morning Jacket with Band of Horses - and I am sure more will be announced in the next few weeks. I'd consider signing up for emails from Bowery Presents and or checking Oh My Rockness.

I post in here too often offering up tickets, but, yeah. Some friends dropped out and I have an extra pair of tickets to see Sebadoh with Mazes this Saturday, November 12 at Music Hall of Williamsburg. I am going to the show so we could meet there, or there is Manhattan. I am not looking for money (but I would not refuse a beer, haha.)

It should be a great show; a friend just saw them in Georgia and said they sounded great and had very entertaining banter.

I think everything else I'm in for is The Weakerthans play Reconstruction Site on Friday, a NY Phil CONTACT! concert on the 17th and whatever weekend operas I can get drawn for.

Jandek is playing two dates in Brooklyn at Vaudeville Park

Accompanying Jandek March 23rd, will be Rachelle Lalonde, vocals, Ian M Colletti, classical guitar, harps, violin, vocals and Valerie Kuehne, cello and vocals.

March 23rd's performance will be taped live for an upcoming Episode of ESP TV.

There will also be a 2nd Performance of Jandek at Vaudeville Park, Monday March 26, with Rachelle Lalonde, vocals, Alan Lewandoski, guitar and Ian M Colletti on various instrumentation.

Trying to decide which one I will go to; I am leaning towards Friday night but I would have to mess with some plans.

I'm going to vacation here with the boyfriend for about a month starting on my birthday Aug. 9th and returning on Sep. 5th.

I booked my flight a few hours ago (hurray).

I visited a few years ago but only for a few days. I got to see Rockafella, Radiocity, Timesquare, Central Park, and the Museums around it. It was a great time!

Since I'm going to spend a month in NYC, I will now thoroughly read through this thread! I'm also looking for suggestions. I know I want to see St. Patrick's Cathedral. I'm a pretty boring person so things like that I'll be able to think of on my lonesome.

After day 20 I may have some trouble thinking of things to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (Mayhaps some "Man, I wish I was there so I could go see.." shows to attend.) Thanks in advance.
