Default British NMEish hype bands in '10

C'mon we all know there's a few each year. What are this year's best guesses? Big Pink? XX? Animal Kingdom? I think La Roux and Florence and the Machine should've been last year so I won't guess them.

The xx are very dull live, i'm afraid. As much as i'm a fan of the album, they have all the stage presence of the invisible man playing hide and seek.

You'll probably get Florence, Little Boots, The Big Pink and some mainstream jizz like The Script.

Maybe by April the xx will have improved their live show. By then they'll have been in the spotlight for awhile.

The Big Pink I've heard are good live however, so no problem there. Definitely would like to see them.

    The Script are Irish.

Florence would be a terrific addition though. The album was a wee bit disappointing I thought, but she's got terrific presence and I can't believe that girl's voice.

    Great voice, boring songs.

Also, not interested in The Script enough to investigate where they come from (but wish they would fuck off back there).

    [Anecdote]

She was singing Happy Birthday or something to somebody in her dressing room at EP, and it was so fucking amazing that all the work ground to a halt and all the other bands came out of their dressing rooms to listen.

Wayne Coyne was particularly slackjawed about it, and asked me about her. Told him about her and pointed him in the right direction, and later that night, lo and behold, I spotted her in the middle of all the furry girls at the side of the Flaming Lips stage.

    I'm a band matchmaker, me.

I'm surprised that song Dominos isn't huge in US by now but it should be soon.

The XX don't have a drummer correct? They have a dude on the pads triggering kicks, snares, and sound effects and what not. Do they play live like this as well? maybe it would benefit having a live drummer for their live show along with a drum machine

yes please on little boots! i watched a special on her and she's pretty talented, only talks way too damn much. the guy who was interviewing her had the most ridiculous expression on his face. as long as she's singing and not talking.
