i saw bersuit vergarabat, from argentina, years ago and it was a really great show.
also, this argentinian guy who goes by the name of melmann has some good electronic music. i'd like to see him live someday.
davila 666, from puerto rico. kind of garage punk. great live show. i saw them last month and it was impressive. these guys will be big.
resplandor, from peru, if you are into shoegaze. they opened for ulrich schnauss and asobi seksu in south america not long ago.
and for world music, novalima, from peru. if there's a latin band i've always enjoyed and really want to see again, here they are.

Kinky / Tijuana Sound Machine (a Nortec Collective project) would be amazing.
Lil known acts such as Quetzal, Cava, Upground and Casa De Calacas would really Thrive in this enviroment. I know Ozomatli played there a couple years back and Tore it up in one of the tents, but they need to come back. Los Lobos would be alot of fun to watch, and not just their La Bamba Stuff. Salvador Santana Band would do really good in one of the tents. Tijuana No would Have been Great Before Luis Passed away. Kinky would be amazing in this setting and I would LOVE to see Ojos de Brujo out in the Warm Dessert night. B Side Players Are ready for this scene and this Novelty act called Mentiritas would be very entertaining. They opened for El Recodo not too long ago, and I think the Crowd would really dig them. Los Pinguos, Orishas and I would Love to see Calle 13.
Here is some of those lesser known acts I mentioned...
Casa De Calacas
Coachella gets some pretty good latin bands to play pretty often. They had Cafe Tacuba like twice also which was pretty cool. Hope to hear some more latin music next year.
3/17 Deradoorian @ Bootleg
3/19 Kraftwerk @ WDCH
3/21 Boys Noize @ Lot 613
3/28 Madlib & Freddie Gibbs @ Echoplex
4/1 Kelela @ The Echo
4/9 The Knife @ Fox Pomona
4/15 Sam Smith @ Belasco
4/26 Simian Mobile Disco @ Pappy & Harriet's
6/7-9 Governors Ball
FABULOSOS CADILLACA!!! WILL BE AWESOME!
Kinky is not as good as they used to be, and the same goes for Zoé. I pretty much think they suck nowadays.
this is my "latin wishlist" for 2010:
- Los Amigos Invisibles
- Buenavista Social Club
- Plastilina Mosh
- Nortec Collective
- Los Auténticos Decadentes
- Los Fabulosos Cadillacs
- Mexican Institute of Sound (I know they played '09 but they were THAT good)
2009, 2010, 2011, 2012w1, 2013w1
OK, I guess we need to get an OFFICIAL LOS FABULOSOS CADILLACS REQUEST THREAD going on.... they would be the SHIT!!!
I recently saw at the Rock en el Rio Festival (Juarez, Mexico) the following bands, this is what I think:
Zoe - ok set, but get pretty fucking boring
Amigos Invisibles - AWESOME, this was like 2 weeks before ACL
Kinky - Very intense, I had not heard their latest album but it's very good.
Molotov - meh.. been there done that
Quiero Club - They would be an interesting addition to Coachella
Los Bunkers - boring
Jumbo - mmm.. I would prefer a Zurdok reunion
Other interesting bands would be:
Titan - at the sahara!!!
Nortec - I agree with some of you
Hello Seahorse - fuck yeah
Cafe Tacuba - only if they release a new album by April
ps...that Silverio guy is FCUKING AWESOME!
There are a bunch of really good and some what decent latin bands. For example, Zoé the "Confirmed" first latin band, they are decent, not that good, but an OK act.
Quiero Club from Monterrey Mexico are an interesting act, definitely something really cool for coachella.
Calle 13, they are, or used to be a reggaeton band, but they have always stated they are not, but the thing is that live they are amazing.
Hello Seahorse! are definitely an act for Coachella.
Juana Molina should definitely be playing.
Babasonicos, great band from Argentina, definitely a good option for next years Coachella.
Los Fancy Free, AMAZINGLY GREAT Mexican band.
Jessy Bulbo, she is like an underground icon in the Mexican music scene.
Emmanuel Horvilleur, he used to be in one of the hip hop act called Illya Kuryaki And The Valderramas. If you could get them to reunited (though they hever broke up) that would be prettyn fucking amazing.
Juan Son, his previous band Porter played for the last time at Coachella 08.
Maria Daniela Y Su Sonido Lasser, they are from Mexico City, really good act also.
No Lo Soporto, I think they are from Argentina, really good music that these chicks make.
ACTS FROM SPAIN!!!
Adanowsky, hes an amazing performer.
Coconot, great band. One of the members is El Guincho, another great act that they should bring next years.
Delorean, they have been getting a lot of attention w/ the last EP they got out.
Juanita Y Los Feos, they sound like Black Lips, but some people might dig them.
It's funny cuase just a couple of weeks ago I was debating with a friend wether Calle13 was coachella material or not.
She argued that weird shit like Gogol bordello and el gran silencio have played and my argument was that they are fucking reggeaton.
I'm not saying they're bad, I agree they're a good live band... I've payed a little bit more attention to them since they played that song with Cafe Tacuba.
I guess it's the latin equivalent to having rap on coachella
ps. If anyone else asks for Mana, I'll cut their balls off.
I forgot to add...
I heard rumors fo Plastilina Mosh for next year.
Zoe still sucks but KINKY was fucking AWESOME... I remember seeing them a couple of years ago after they played Coachella and I didn't really likes them (they had their second album stuff). This new album is pretty good and the live set is very intense.

Gotan Project is pretty Latinesque

in '08 i saw Gogol Bordello, i've never heard of that guy before that day, and his act was fucking amazing.
People were really into Mexican Institute of Sound in '09 and i don't even need to mention El Gran Silencio, that shit was amazing.
so yeah, keep that racist shit down, bro.
calle 13 its not reggaeton
