The Velvet Underground's self-titled album (not the Velvet Undeground & Nico) is a really good record. Mastefully crafted and quite listenable in comparison to some of their other material.

Pick any three songs off the album and you're in business, though my personal favorite is "Pale Blue Eyes."

Some songs I like a lot. Some annoy the hell out of me. Here:

Suprefan, unnecessary douchery makes the internet suck. Nobody needs it.

I know the vocals bother you, so I'm going to see if I can muster up something where nobody's yelling or anything.

Age of Consent is a New Order cover, but they don't do their own quiet stuff live much anymore, and I think it's a nice example of the different elements of the band being used sparingly and usefully. Richard Reed Parry is the best musician in the band by a considerable shout, IMHO

Kettles is a song that's generally overlooked because it sits on Funeral in between some total beasts that overshadow it a little. The general theory is that it's about a guy waiting for his girl to want to have kids. Speculation about how autobiographical this may be is generally discouraged.

Cold Wind is the song they did for Six Feet Under. Aside from charity stuff, it's kind of rare for them to give anybody the use of their music, but they were huge Six Feet Under fans.

I like this band a lot. I'd like other people to like them almost as much, because they make me very happy.

    sigur ros - staralfur

Sigur Ros - Saeglopur (the fountain mix)

Sigur Rós - Untitled 4 (Njósnavélin)

I've only got one, but it was the one that won me. BBC have used this song on approximately 23,432,322 heart wrenching documentary promos since the album's release, and I still haven't tired of it.

Their new album + seeing them live are the best things about the band. If you found both of those experience not to your liking then there isn't any youtube video that anyone is gonna post that will change your mind.

Re: AF, liked the first one (cuz I like that song), but the 2nd one gave me a headache by the time it was done, and I could only listen to 46 seconds of the last. His voice is almost as bad as Bob Dylan's. I'm sorry. I'm serious though--I now have a headache.

I might try the first group of AF youtubes.

Arcade Fire sucks after Funeral, Sigur Ros has always sucked, Tool is boring, and i don't like amyzzz. i mean, she stood a chance, but then threw out the whole hip-hop genre and i lost faith in her. i don't even know this bitch, but god i want to smack her.

Jesus Christ, you guys all suck at this. There are way better songs to use for Pixies, Pearl Jam, and thank god Ivy weighed in with some proper Queen responses.

    Bad effort, gang.

Supre did not remotely nail it. All great songs, but not the songs I would use to convince someone why Radiohead is awesome. The Gloaming and Sit Down, Stand Up are very much songs that you kinda have to be already down with the Radiohead style to enjoy. Keep Idioteque and replace the rest with these, just because we might as well leave out obvious ones like Planet Telex and any singles.
