I just crossed 3 of my top 5 of my list, so I am pretty happy right now.

    Foo Fighters
    The Pixies

Bands that were SLIGHTLY before my concert-going time and I just missed them, but perhaps will get a chance in the near future:

Upon further reflection, I am replacing Royksopp with The Dead Milkmen. That is all.

I hope in 2010 I can scratch these off the list. I have a good feeling Massive Attack will be realized, the rest is all hope.

July 30- Rage Against the Machine/Muse- LA Coliseum
    Oct 21- Portishead- Berkeley Greek
Nov 18- Pixies- Fox Theater Bakersfield

    You either:

    1. Have very bad taste in music,

    or

    2. Have already seen all the good bands (leaving only shitty bands to pick from for your top 5).

    Which is it?

This list would have been a lot longer only 18 or 20 mos ago. Since then; Radiohead, Kraftwerk, Portishead, Tindersticks, Paul Weller, Neil Young & Nick Cave have all been scratched off.
Actually, a top-5 list can only have 5 bands on it, whether it was 20 months ago or 20 years ago.

Does it count that I saw Nick Cave play piano for Dirty Three? I am going to say no. If it were Grinderman or the Birthday Party that would count.

I certainly would've counted seeing PJ Harvey & John Parish.

The 6ths would be a stretch, I think.

Gira solo or as Swans or as the Angels of Light would all be lovely and amazing.

I don't know of any Low side projects. While I had a ticket to see PJ Harvey & John Parish (still do!) I actually showed up at the Brickhouse to see Low in April 2004 (or was it '05?) but the show had been canceled.

I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. . . . corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed.

4/5 seen here.. Where have you been the past 2 years?

    anyways, my top 5:

    Outkast
    Neutral Milk Hotel
    New Order
    Burial
    Portishead

all would be transformative shows but none like to tour at all, it's a shame.. especially outkast, i never understood that. unlike the rest of the people on my list they've gone platinum many times over on multiple records in recent years but they still haven't felt like playing a show since 2001.. sad.

the only big elusive act that i've ever managed to catch was Daft Punk or My Bloody Valentine when it comes to rare factor

    5. Joanna Newsom

I saw Bowie in Manchester, NH in 2004 when I was a sophomore in high school with my dad and it was the most disappointing show of my life. I would love for him to tour again and see him kill it.

Off his list, when I had a chance to see Ratatat I saw Mogwai instead. Bloody Beetroots at Coachella? I saw TV on the Radio instead. I saw Justice. Don't recall any chances I've had to see Soulwax or The Strokes in the last two years, but I didn't really know Soulwax until this year.

Yeah I think Andre and Big Boi just would prefer to spend their time apart than together. It's quite sad. Same with me for Daft Punk and MBV, but they haven't been so elusive at all as of late.
    Ron Paul 2012!

    Upcoming Shows:
    Four Tet
    Coachella 4/20-4/22
Death Cab for Cutie/Magik Magik Orchestra
    Radiohead
    some other bands

Crossed one off the list, and I'm not losing any sleep on the White Stripes getting back together anytime soon.

    So as of now:

    1. Lou Reed in any way, shape, or form
    2. Boredoms
    3. Portishead
    4. Bjork
    5. Sigur Ros
    7/30 - Shabazz Palaces - Roxy (?)

    8/01 - Ceremony/Nothing - Roxy (?)

i was thinking "Oh, Scott Walker", but is that ever gonna happen? At his point an Ennio show is also unlikely, but it almost happened at the Bowl. Might have put Yellow Magic Orchestra...gonna knock that one out tonight.
