That Thurston noise set we got at ATP NY was awesome. But yeah, I would expect that to be loud.

Edit: Let's start some discussion on the new page. Listened to Ben Vida esstends - esstends - esstends last night because I saw Jared mention it somewhere. Such a crazy listening experience I don't know how to describe it. Just started it again right now and I still can't. Disorienting? Really fucking good though.

Arc Lab just signed up for soundcloud. Here's an unreleased album he just posted:

Not technically "noise" but this seems like a good thread to post it in anyway.

So, what ambient & drone have you guys liked so far this year? The ones I've really liked have been:

Pjusk - Tele (not quite as good as Sval, but still good and the experimentation on this one is interesting)
T.S.R. - GTCHI97 (this is a collab between Carbon Based Lifeforms and someone else I cannot remember. It's a little more noise/beat-y than the ambient that comes directly from Carbon Based Lifeforms. I just listened to it today and it is good)
ASC And Sam KDC - Decayed Society (ASC is one of my favorite DJs right now. He usually does DnB/Autonomic kind of stuff, but this is pure ambient and fucking glorious. Might be one of my favorite albums of the year)

I listened to the new Bvdub and didn't like it (lacked creativity...too repetitive) and the Kutin release also didn't do much for me either. I just the other day listened to the new Atrium Carceri and need to give that another listen before I make any determinations about it. I also need to give those two new Groupers another listen. They are just so fucking dense! Oh, and I'm not counting the new Julia Holter as ambient...it's more pop to me ears. Anyway...what else should I be listening to?

EDIT: forgot one...Listening Mirror - Resting in Aspic (reminds me a lot of Eno's straight-up ambient with some piano thrown in here and there that smacks of A Winged Victory for the Sullen. Very peaceful and perfect to fall asleep to)

Really going to be sad if that last gig isn't in LA. But this is super fucking exciting nevertheless.

Definitely. I'm tempted to go to Seattle. Been wanting to check it out, that triple bill is a good excuse.

A nice piece on Motion Sickness of Time Travel and her label, Hooker Vision.

Same author as the recent Container profile. He deserves a more prominent role at RA imo.

the latest Hooker Vision batch is pretty solid (the Grant Evans and Crippling tapes in particular). The label has been really hit and miss for me, but there are some total gems they've put out. Winds Over Silmäterä is pure bliss.

Hey dudes, has this ever been posted in here?

    http://noise-arch.net/

it's huge archive of old tapes. They're all linked as direct mp3s so you can both download or play directly through your browser. pretty awesome.

EDIT: I guess most of this stuff is from the '80s too. The archiver posted this on reddit, my girlfriend just sent it to me.

I haven't heard the entirety of either yet, but what I have heard from Carter Tutti Void's Transverse has been incredible (am just now getting around to it), as well as Sarin Smoke's '07 release Smokescreen (still waiting for the new one to go up on ?).

Andrew Pekler - Cover Versions. An astonishing piece of music. Possibly my favorite thing from this year so far.
