Yeah wow, Decimus 5 is quite an experience. I had a different reaction than Jared though, I didn't find it to be all that weird, and I wouldn't consider it krautrock by any means. Repetitive noise, yes.

Killer killer shit. 9 comes out soon on Holiday Records. And one of them is coming out on Digitalis early next year.
I was sorta expecting not to like it. If YOU say it's really weird, I thought it was going to be some uber-abrasive stuff. I dug it though, especially Side B. Once that beat comes in it just slays.

i meant weird in the context of krautrock or straight up psych. All things considered it's not that out there. Just ridiculously good.
The Conet Project
I was listening to Yankee Hotel Foxtrot tonight, and then I watched American Horror Story and decided I wanted a truly scary experience. Disc 4 of the Conet Project is some of the most fucking uncomfortable sounding noise I've ever heard. It makes my stomach curl, but it's fascinating and really incredible sounding.
The Crackle on Disc 4, in particular, is wicked.
Yeah Conet Project is pretty great. Parts of it really remind me of TG's Second Annual Report.
Canzoni dal Laboratorio del Silenzio Cosmico still gets me every time. Some of my favorite 30 minutes of music ever. Feel bad for people who haven't heard it.
Let's discuss pretty, delicate ambient & drone.
A Following Shadow by Earn (released by PPM) is one of my favorites of 2011 and if you haven't heard it yet, but you're reading this thread, and you often enjoy this thread... then it comes with the highest recommendation!
A quick google search will give you a free listen.
I tried pancakes but I just can't think of ambient music right now
Tonight I'll sleep to metal machine music

sweet noise
favorite noise for slumber
Ooh that is good to know about. Before my flight to NY for IBYM, we consumed hash edibles... I discovered on that flight how awesome airplane noises were. Never noticed it before. One of the Oneida members had an "I love airplane noises" sticker on his gear, loved seeing that after having just realized how great airplanes sound.
I've heard one or two Earn releases, though neither of which were mentioned... I'll have to check those out.

I saw Alex from AIDS Wolf play under the name Drainolith last week and he totally fucking rules. I guess there's a Drainolith release coming out through Spectrum Spools soon (!!!) so look out for that! http://vimeo.com/30717709
did you see Regression as well then? at the Lab? we cross paths at shows way too often not to have met.
Yep, that was a sweet show. I try to make it to as many of The Lab's shows as I can, it's always fucking so loud there. But yeah, I know what you mean. It's funny, there's some people you see at every single noise show that you can't help but notice every time, but it's usually because of something that catches your eye, like a weird hairdo. And for the rest of us, we just fade into the dark. Noise shows are not good places to meet people, unless perhaps there's lots of drinking involved.
What did you think of Drainolith? And also Regression?
i thought both were fantastic. but the Regression set floored me. i'm a bit nate young fan, so was glad to finally see a solo set (his new LP on NNA is one of my favorites of the year).
i like the Lab shows, but there are a lot of repeat local acts i'm not big on...
Alright then I should definitely look into that record. His set was really interesting to me but I'm not at all familiar with him other than a small amount of Wolf Eyes. I didn't know what to think as it was happening. I didn't see the other people who played, because yeah, I agree with that about local acts. I just try to get there in time to see whoever I want to see, and they usually play last.
"It's completely misunderstood if Merzbow is music for men. Merzbow is not male or female. Merzbow is erotic like a car crash can be related to genital intercourse. The sound of Merzbow is like Orgone energy-- the color of shiny silver."
-Masami Akita (aka Merzbow)
That's some serious poetry.
recently got a couple freebie tapes that I already own that are insanely good (greg davis/jeph jerman and social drag). someone shoot me a PM with your address and I'll send you an xmas present.
I was able to catch Hive Mind (along with King Dude) this past weekend,he's being playing tons of shows lately to support his new record, which i was able to pick up. First time seeing him...intense, rumbling set.
that record kills. even if greh is an asshole...
