i've read from daft punk themselves that any tour dates would be announced on their official myspace page to prevent fake announcements... so i wouldn't say it's an automatic fail.

BUT i don't recall them saying anything about facebook.

January 31st is around the time of Australia's Big Day Out Festival. http://www.bigdayout.com/home.php. It's their Coachella. Could be they are doing the festival circuit again.

i wouldn't rule it out simply because it's facebook, but if you actually click the link and click into it even further, it shows an old article and some hopeful speculation based on it, but no actual facts or news of any kind.

if you click on "Get Tickets", it takes you to this facebook page & article:

(first of all the page has the date as Tuesday, December 20, 2011... yeah 2011! that's two years and four months from now..)

i think the first & last paragraph of the article dispel any rumor of this being based in reality... not to mention "you might have herd by now"

Hey Guys!! You might have herd by now that Daft Punk are set for another world tour!!! They are currently recording a new Album as we speak.. The date is not confirmed but i will keep you guys posted!! This is going to be the nite we will talk about for years to come!!

In the wake of last week’s ‘Daft Punk in Shanghai’ fiasco, the legendary French duo have released a public statement denouncing the ticketing scam while at the same time revealing the next time they’ll hit the road will be for a world tour in 2010-2011.

“The band are not touring this year, and at no point were they approached for this show, and at no point was there ever a possibility that they would do such a show,” read the statement, posted on Daft Punk’s official Facebook fan page.

“The band’s representatives are currently looking into what future action can be taken regarding the fraudsters responsible for the current scam,” it continued, before leaving the reader with one rather tasty bit of info. “Daft Punk look forward to visiting and performing in China as part of their next world tour, in 2010 or 2011.”

A new Daft Punk album and a world tour in the foreseeable future? Let’s just hope they factor Australia in to their travel plans, after the outright hysteria of their December 2007 visit we think we’ve calmed down enough to do it all again.
