They keep on rolling...
Third Man Records is humbled to be a part of such a stellar confluence of literature, art and music in handling the vinyl release of the soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby.
In an effort to present an object that integrates all the inter-connected components of this release, Third Man Records has gone the extra mile with their limited-edition version of the soundtrack in pioneering a never-before released method for vinyl records.
Both LPs in the set are blindingly reflective metallized discs. Disc one is platinum and disc two is gold. These are the first-ever commercially available records made using these precious metals via this process.
Not stopping there, the records come housed in a entirely unique laser-cut wooden LP jacket riveted to aluminum spines. All of these elements (gold, platinum, aluminum, wood and brass) showcase the Art Deco-meets-modern style, classic meets cutting edge, which is the essence of The Great Gatsby film and Third Man Records.
Mere words pale in comparison to the actual physical presence of this piece, so please do check out the video here to get the full experience of the release.
These unique hand made sets will retail for $250 and Pre-Sales will be available in a limited number through the Third Man website (US only) starting from 9am on Friday May 10th in order to coincide with the Great Gatsby cinema release. Also on Friday the 10th, the first 100 physical copies of the set will be available in the Third Man retail store in Nashville from 10am.
In addition to the limited edition, Third Man is also announcing the release date of June 11th for the standard edition double album. The soundtrack will be on 180 gram vinyl and housed in a Gold Foil stamped gatefold sleeve. Pre-sales for this standard edition of the soundtrack will also be available on the Third Man website on Friday May 10th.
I like the Love is Blindness cover.
Oh Jack White, what have you wrought with your catchy song that is now the anthem of stadiums and meatheads alike....

pollstar has a blurb about his divorce being finalized
3k/month child support, he gets them 150 days a year.
Says he makes $62k/month, which is $744k/year.
Strikes me as REALLY low for someone who sells that much 3rd Man stuff, owns all copyrights and tours at a fairly regularly at a high level. Sasquatch/Voodoo/OSL/ACL probably paid $750k each for him to play.
If I had to guess I would guess that $62k/month is his take home since he doesn't have a major label paying for all of the touring he does and for all of the manufacturing costs to make the shirts, records, etc.

Really bummed that I didn't make the deadline for the newest vault package. I love the idea of them releasing this deadweather album one 7" at a time.

Report: Neil Young and Jack White Join Forces for Covers Album
http://www.nashvillescene.com/nashvi...r-covers-albumRemember when Neil Young kicked it at Jack White’s Third Man Records last year, turning in a show-stopping “Long May You Run” at the CMT Willie Nelson birthday special taping and cutting an on-the-fly cover of Bert Jansch’s “Needle of Death” in TMR’s nifty antique Voice-o-Graph instant-vinyl recording booth? Well, turns out Shakey and J-Dub may have been up to more than just that.
According to music writer Michael Goldberg’s Days of the Crazy-Wild blog, Young and White have cut a full-length covers album together, possibly for release on either (or both) Third Man or Warner Bros. Records. The blog cites an anonymous source “associated with the project.”
Moreover, last month another anonymous source posting on the Neil Young fan site Thrasher’s Wheat (so, you know, grains of salt all around) said the album boasts 12 covers of Young favorites by other classic troubadours. They “likely” include “Needle of Death,” along with Phil Ochs’ “Changes,” Gordon Lightfoot’s “Early Morning Rain,” Ivory Joe Hunter’s “Since I Met You Baby,” Tim Hardin’s “Reason to Believe” and the long-lost Bob Dylan rarity “Blowin’ in the Wind,” the source says. Young sang each of those songs — with the exception of “Needle” — during an appearance at last year’s Farm Aid concert.
Perhaps adding credence to the report, in a recent chat sesh with TMR Vault subscribers, White let slip that he’s finishing production on two albums this month and “one of them is mine.” Could the other one be the Neil collab? Will the sun rise in the west tomorrow? Who knows!
Inquiries to representatives for both Third Man and Warner Bros. were not immediately returned, but we’ll keep you posted!
haha RS posted this today: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/vi...storm-20140116
have really been missing jw at cchella the past few years. thought for sure he was gonna bring both bands [buzzards and peacocks] last year and now with the new dw material thought for sure they would be back. sure hope he comes around again soon... in any state.
A Letter Home is a Neil Young album, not a collaboration.

False Rumours: Neil Young and Jack White are not doing a record of duets as has been erroneously posted on various outlets. We are certain those rumours have no basis in truth.
Let's guess how much this ends up going for. I like how this bidding is restricted to pre-approved buyers I'm going to guess $17,500!
