    Default Coachella & Bonnaroo

    Didn't see a thread so I thought I'd ask.

    Anyone else going to both?

I'll be at both. 2nd year in a row. Also going to Lolla since it's in my home town.

I am going to both festivals (all 3 days for Coachella), but if the Bonnaroo lineup would have been announced before Coachella, I don't think that I would have bothered buying a tix for any day other then Sunday at this year's Coachella.
For people (such as myself) that are not as interested in dance/electronic/indie music as much as rock music, Bonnaroo's lineup absolutely destroys Coachella this year!
Bjork, RHCP, Arcade Fire, Decemberists, Arctic Monkeys, Jesus & the Mary Chain, Jarvis Cocker, The Good, the Bad, and the Queen, Interpol<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<The Police, White Stripes, Tool, Wolfmother, Clutch, Ween

Thank God Coachella at least has RATM, Air, Willie Nelson, Sonic Youth, and Silversun Pickups; otherwise, I'd sell my tickets.

For someone who has seen a lot of bands Bonnaroos lineup is a disappointment. Coachella is very unique.

I'm sorry but I have seen the Flaming Lips 3 times this year and I saw them tour for the Soft Bulletin. I saw Ween do a 4 hour show on the Mollusk tour. They wont ever be any better than that plus I have seen them at least 10 times since. The only 2 bands I would like to see on the Bonnaroo lineup that are not on the Coachella lineup are the White Stripes (seen em) and the Police. Both will tour again soon.

Bonnaroo gives longer set times than Coachella though, and it goes all night

I'd really love to check out Bonnaroo at least once too, but it sounds a bit... grungy... camping wise. Coachella camping is really more my type of thing -- "sleeping on the ground" with showers and flushing toilets.

Yeah can't wait for that 4 hr Widespread set. Or that epic late night 4 hr Moe set. I have seen all the DJ's they have a bunch of times. I am just talking about why I would not go to Bonnaroo this year not why the average person should not go. I was on stage for Tool at Coachella last year so sitting in the middle of 80,000 to see something I could careless about is no draw for me. The Police will play dates all over the world. I bet I will see them for free somewhere this year. I bet they play some KROQ fest.

I won't be going to Bonnaroo this year. Hopefully the White Stripes and Wilco will make a tour of their own sometime soon.

we are going to both ... the difference between coachella and roo camping is the difference between night and day .. we had vip at bonnaroo, but some of the camping that was the longest away, i would bet was a couple of miles ... plus it took us about 5 hours to drive into the venue ... and it takes hours and hours to get out ... therefore once you get inside, you never leave ... they have a place called centaroo sp which is like a small town, thus you really dont have to leave ....i know at the coachellas we went to, we went to town a number of times .... but it is a once in a lifetime experience .... sort of like something you have to do to pay your festy karma for the future ... i know that sounds a little touchy feely for some peeps but it is like "having' to go to the ratm show when they are at coachella, just for a while, to say "been there done that " cr****

Coachella? Yes. Bonnaroo? No way am I flying all the way to Tennessee to see three good bands per day if I'm lucky, especially when said lineup offers nothing truly special that I haven't just seen already at Coachella or acts that will tour later this summer. And let's not forget the jam bands, hippies, and humidity.

They had Dr. John last year revising his night tripper character. You probably aren't going to see that again.

I wrote an article comparing them:

Going to Coachella for the first time this year and will be at Bonnarro for the 3rd time. Not crazy about Bonnaroo's lineup, but is the funnest thing to do down south here all year.
