    Default Field Day 09

    Aug 1st - Victoria Park - London.

1st year had great weather and terrible sound problems.
2nd year had much better sound and heavy rain storms.
This year i have my fingers crossed for a lack of soundbleed and a bit of sun.

Do you Europeans ever get sick of all the really great lineups you get for your festivals all the time? Do you ever just think "Fuck it, let's just fill this thing up with a bunch of shot in the pan mediocre indie bands and stale 90's alternative stadium rock leftovers for a change"?

Not really. My day in bullet points.

Mogwai put on quite a show after a day of on/off torrential rain.

Errors were most certainly my 2nd favourite set of the day.

Santigold did a cover of "Killing An Arab".

Little Boots was so bland that i was forced to leave before the end of the first song.

    First Aid Kit were twee.

Micachu really didn't work in a festival environment.

King Charles was my favourite stumbled upon discovery.

2 gay guys had an impromptu mud wrestle.

The XX had potential and no charisma.

The Big Pink had charisma and no potential.

Mogwai were stellar. Incredible show - one of my favorites of the year easily. I had my hand on a setlist too, but it was snatch from under me. I got a hoodie to make up for it.

Errors were my #2 as well, just impressive throughout. Nice seeing that set with you, Chris.

Final Fantasy was comfortable up on stage. It was a nice show, nothing too special, but very much worth seeing.
Little Boots was indeed awful, but I only caught the end because Erol Alkan had to kill it right after.
Four Tet had a very trippy set that put me in a daze.
And I got to see the end of Toumani Diabate and it makes me want to see him more!

I was fortunate to avoid heavy torrential rain while remaining in the tents, so I had a fantastic day!
