Well, the music sounds listenable.
I just can't hear him singing over that song. I will reserve judgment until I hear his whiney vocals.

Seeing how he's the primary songwriter in the Strokes, im looking forward to seeing how different it is from any other Strokes album.
Julian knows what he's doing - he and his stroking buddies are good musicians who helped recreate a great late 70's and early 80's sound that many people still are trying to replicate.
I look forward to them or him alone sub-headlining 2010 Coachella.
Fave Strokes lyric:
'I wish two drinks were always in me'...doesn't get truer than that.
This has the potential for a lot of awesome. Like jgafs said, obviously the song writing will still be top-notch as evidenced by The Strokes' past three albums. But I think the style could really work well with Julian's voice too. I could see this basically exploring the direction of "Ask Me Anything" from their last album, which was definitely an album highlight.
I'd much rather see The Strokes live first (who wouldn't)... but nonetheless, Coachella 2010 plz!
For some reason him grabbing the microphone at the end and the flash of light makes me laugh a lot.
I love the visuals on that.
"...I'd pretend I had the perfect day" also one of my favorite Strokes lyrics.
The Strokes will play Coachella 2010. Julian said there album will drop March/April 2010.

"we could go and get 40s, yeah fuck going to that party"
"It's hard to explain" but if the strokes plays in Coachella I will be so much happy

The bad news: The album has been pushed back until November.
The good news: Julian Casablancas shows in L.A. every Friday in November.
Looks like I'll be heading south next month!
from juliancasablancas.comPHRAZES FOR THE YOUNG COMING IN NOVEMBER
PHRAZES FOR THE YOUNG will be released on November 2 in the UK and November 3rd in the US. To celebrate the release, Julian will play a special series of shows every Friday night in November in Los Angeles. Show details will be announced here shortly.
I really like how 11th Dimension sounds-kinda synth poppy? Gives promise for more good stuff to come. But only 8 tracks?
Edit:*He just played a show in Tokyo touring with 6 band members. There is some youtube footage of new songs.
