I agree with some previous posts.

I would say there is probably a good chance the Detour is not happening this year.

They announced that it was happening last year (by updating the sites) around 5/29/2009 and officially announced the line up around 7/28/2009.

There really has been no word or site updates.

I take that as it's probably not happening.

But maybe I'm wrong but it's already July 16th and no word or updates.

It seems to me that every year it was more and more empty so it would make sense.

If we were two weeks before lineup announcement there would have to be at least one band who leaks it onto their schedule... I'm thinking it's not happening now either.

It ain't right. Detour has been fun every year and a great bang for the bucks spent. True the crowd has thinned a little and that is depressing that the fine people who live around here don't support something this good that is right in their backyard. i just don't get it. The line up is going to be held accountable for last year, but for those who actually went, line up turned out to be pretty damn good.

Anyway, reminders of the past couple of years:

    Detour 2007

    Detour 2008

I'll be very annoyed if AEG gave me an MJ memorial I didn't want and then doesn't do Detour.

Well then AEG can roll some of that profit into Detour, right?
I thought 2008 was great. It may sound selfish, but I liked the fact that there was a small crowd. I would pay more money for tickets to have that kind of situation again.

i think what made the first one so succesful was that almost the entire lineup was made of acts that didnt really made any other appearances that year in any other festivals (basement jaxx, qotsa, beck, !!!, blonde redhead, etc)
at least until the next year
whereas the following years had just more of the same with a few random acts thrown in (hercules and love affair, shout out louds and raveonettes.. thats it)

Get Blonde Redhead again and I am there. It was worth the price of admission for their set alone.

I still can't believe I missed the first year.
Last two years were worth going to, though.

Fact: Beck killed it in 2006.

The gazebo with Franki Chan, DJ Medhi, Sebastian, Busy P, Kavinsky, and fat So Me in 2007 was as good as that festival could ever repeat electronically again.

I blame the pirates in 2008 for potentially screwing up this year. They should have just stood on that boat at Disneyland and sing there!
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.
