Thread: Has Coachella reached a plateu in terms of headliners?

Default Has Coachella reached a plateu in terms of headliners?

After 2008, Prince and Roger, I was excited to see how they would top that off. Paul was no let down at all. Everyone who was there for these three shows in particular know what im talking about. As far as epic goes, these were def epic. These 3 artists influence on music is imeasurable. So I wanted to start a thread and see if coachella has reached a plateau in terms of headliners. If you want epic in 2010 there are only a few people that come to mind. Rolling Stones. Guns n Roses, w axel. Stone Temple Pilots, original crew. Pearl Jam, not sure if this would be epic or not. Sade, this would be epic for me, not sure what the consensus is though. Led Zepplin. and of course, Michael Jackson. Very controversial, but the most epic person alive in terms of Pop Star. I dont care what anyone says, you know you would not miss MJ, tickets would sell out instantly. anyways, what yall think????

    hooray for negativity...blah
as far as your list goes i could see led zeppelin and pink floyd obviously topping that list (with the remaining living members) but few could match it.
however, coachella's strength is not simply in the headliners. look at their break out reay of '04 yeah radiohead and the cure are amazing. but they got kraftwerk, pixies, flaming lips to pull that off. i think coachella's real strength is not only the headliners, but the second or third undercard: hence daft punk, jesus and mary chain, bahaus, mau chao, massive attack, my bloody valentine, throbbing gristle, aphex twin, etc.
    who knows, maybe i'm off...plus i'm high

yea, its funny how people get upset on here. i was just wondering who people thought could top off Paul Mcartney? If there is anyone, its not many.

Yea, the headliners are just one aspect of coachella.

I think Paul has enough creativity and love of music that the sky's the limit for future Coachellas.

It's this kind of thinking that causes things to become stale. If it weren't for people like Bowie people wouldn't realize that you can re imagine the wheel every year.

Agreed! And a big part of the charm is....who knows what is next?!
We spend 9 months speculating & Paul seems to always surprise us in some major way.

A plateau is a land area with a relatively level surface raised sharply above the adjacent terrain on at least one side. A mesa is surrounded on all sides by lower terrain. So a mesa is a form of plateau.

A butte is smaller in size compared to a mesa.
