I figured you wouldve gone to a few of em, regardless if it was nosebleed. I figure peopel on the muse board were all freaking out when they saw Muse opening for 10 U2 shows (which I told them would happen)

I saw Muse once opening for MCR (in a not so good seat). It's GA floor or nothing for me now when Muse are just opening (especially in stadiums).

I think they are too big to open for anyone especially in California area. Their own Forum & Bill Graham Auditorium shows were sold out. Maybe that's why. They will come to CA for their own show. But then their own MSG show was sold out (or pretty close) too in NYC and yet they still want to get some slice of U2 fan base in that area (by opening in the U2 Giant stadium gigs).

"It has football-style chanting with all of us going "Oi" in time with the snare drum. It's meant to be football hooligans chanting in protest at the banking situation (laughs)"
"There's on track called Uprising, which is like a heavy-rock take on Goldfrapp".
"There's also a song called Inited States of Eurasia which comes from a book called The Chessboard by Zbigniew Brzezinski.

"By the end of the album's almost purely classical in style. It's not orchestration you'd normally expect from a rock band and we've done all the arranging and scoring. We've just been in Milan doing the orchestral recording with about 40 musicians - great players and really up for experimentation."

So the Muse mystery puzzles and such begins. Muse experimenting & evolving / Matt Bellamy is a scheming conniving bastard.

No Chicago or New York? I won't question the missing Phoenix date, that's normal.

    They're decent in concert.

The only reason why I gave it any validity is because it has The Pit here in Albuquerque. People don't usually just throw out Albuquerque if it's just a giant guess. And The Pit adds more credibility because they are re-doing the arena right now. They want to hold more concerts there and make it an all-purpose arena. Since the late 60's, it's been home to UNM's basketball teams. It's hosted to occasional concert and some rodeo events.

Lol, do those look like anywhere close to complete dates? And I'm pretty sure I saw Madison Square Garden in there.

The UCF Arena is where I saw Lights in the Sky, it's a mid-sized college arena and its the PERFECT size. I am curious about the show and have a feeling I would probably love it even though my sig says otherwise. Plus I have a good friend who would most definitely go so it would be a fun little trip.

I also heard a muse song the other day and I.....*gulp*......liked it.

I know you've told me you think they are rip-offs of Radiohead or something. Honestly, I made the immediate Radiohead comparison when I first heard Muse. But the more I heard Muse's music, the more I realized it is kind of a silly comparison. Matt and Thom hit roughly the same pitches (though Thom is a better singer). Muse is more of a straight forward rock band with a touch of orchestral effect. Marco compares them more to Queen and I completely agree with that.

Matt and Thom have very similar voices, but Matt sings more theatrically (like Queen). Here we go again.

And what's the deal, Salah? You want people to seduce you over to the bands you profess to hate?

edit: also I think Matt's voice is better than Thom's in that he seems to have much more control over it and sings "prettier" more often than Thom, but Radiohead are so much more lyrically and musically relevant than Muse that RH would always win over Muse for me.

My point was that they'll probably play in Chicago if/when a tour gets announced. Also, that list has them playing in New York.

What was your point in pointing out that Chicago and New York weren't on the list?

I agree with this 100%. Matt seems to have far more training.

As a vocalist Matt is a much more trained singer I think. He's also much more of an entertainer and a frontman but I generally prefer Thom to Matt. Thom has a much more unique and interesting voice. Just beautiful though. Both very very talented though. Not only that but they're both very talented all-around musicians too.

I don't even think the Muse/Radiohead comparisons are all that valid. At least in the past 12 years (and Muse didn't release an album until 1999).

That's my point. I don't think we can. I don't think their music sounds enough alike. They're not going for the same things. The similarities are that they both use guitars, drums and bass. Both of their singers can reach a higher pitch. And they're both from the U.K.

Wasn't Kid B just comparing the two front men? What's wrong with that? They both front UK rock bands, why do you need more similarities in a discussion about the two?
