Personally I like the direction Muse is heading. They'll probably play just Plug in Baby for future shows in the US. Got to see Butterflies and Hurricanes so I was happy because it may not happen again

Regardless of what they play on the next tour, the American setlists will be inferior to what they play everywhere else. Have they played "Showbiz" at all since 2006?

At least I got to see them do "Citizen Erased" one last time

Not really true. They honestly play the same hits setlist pretty much everywhere except for special occasions like Reading and Leeds (which was freaking amazing, I can't even describe OoS live) and European stadium shows.

Preemptively disparaging the hypothetical setlists of the unannounced tour in support of an album that hasn't been finished yet is officially more obsessive than anything going on in the Radiohead thread.

Mostly the same, but it's the differences that really stand out. For example, they played "Showbiz" at the European gigs before and after the summer 2006 US tour, but not even once in America. Plus they brought out "Citizen Erased" as Glastonbury, but not Coachella in 2010.

Yeah, fuck those Origin of Symmetry sets. I bet those were amazing.

They played Citizen Erased along with Butterflies at OSL last year.

LA Rising got Butterflies too, I was really surprised at that. They also busted out Ruled By Secrecy, Bliss, and Take A Bow a few times during the 2010 tour in the US...So there's hope! Kind of.

Between the 3 gigs I saw, Staples, LA Rising and OSL, I've heard Bliss, CE and Butterflies. Not bad. I'm cautiously optimistic about the upcoming album. I remember being so excited by Uprising, and then the rest of the album was meh.

They were very amazing. Indescribable. They did pull out CE a few times on the U.S. tour though - New Jersey, Voodoo Festival, LA Rising, Lollapalooza, OSL off the top of my head... really sucks because they soundchecked Micro Cuts at LA Rising and then didn't play it. [I have seen Muse way too many times.]

Citizen Erased at Lolla was one of the most ridiculous moments of the whole festival.

And it came right after Guiding Light and that laser show bit they had for it all tour. Biggest "cut the crap" moment when the CE riff came in.

When you have 8 albums, what do you do. Muse has only, 5. Let me know what happens when Muse hits the same point.......

Hrmm I dont know. I guess it depends on how you look at it. Muse are definitely a bigger "popular" act. I mean, when was the last Radiohead single for the radio? But that look at it aside, Radiohead certainly have a more rabid fan base and are also critical praised unlike recent Muse records. I don't think its entirely wrong to say one is bigger than the other at all, but its a strange situation and conversation to have to begin with.

As a fan of both groups, I've never understood why they ever get brought up together besides being from the UK. I just don't hear it.

It goes without saying that "bigger" doesn't mean "better" either.

His favorite record from last year was Death Grips. Give him a break!

ps Does anyone have this tour book they released couple months ago? Is it worth it?

My 2 cents on Muse since their US breakthrough (not as familiar before that)

    Absolution = best *album* (overall)
Black Holes & Revelations = perhaps their 2 best songs ("Starlight" & "Map of the Problematique")
The Resistance = nothing worthy of their top 5

Hopefully their next album steps it up.
