i think lil wayne is a piece of shit for selling all this garbage to our kids, and he won 6 grammys and is multi platinum. i feel the same way about Lady Gaga as i do lil wayne. what a strange world we live in.

Buuut, i think Gaga is ok. She plays instruments and writes her music.
She's in the same boat Katy Perry is in. She's pop, but for lack of better words, can appeal to the stuck up indie crowd, like yourself. (or not really you personally, but most people around here).

I saw her perform a couple songs at a radio event last year and she is definitely worth the attention she is getting. She writes her own songs (or at least did for that album), can actually sing and play instruments, and she is a great performer.

im just dissapointed at how many other female artists, who are 5 million times more dope will get no where near as much airplay. so i feel bad for those kids who only listen to the radio and watch mtv, and think this is the only music that is available, so to them lady gaga is cool. they probably have never even heard of goldfrapp, peaches or santogold.

the thing is, we live in a society that wants money. so to get money, you have to give up control. which is why i think the music industry is the way it is, if you want the money, you will have to give up the control. its as simple as that.

Well, I don't know about all that. Let's just call it as it is. Gays are early adopters (especially when it comes to electro/dance/pop) and her wide support by the young gheys definitely helped catapult her career and, of course, from there she crossed over to a wider audience. But, whether or not I personally think her music leaves something to be desired [earplugs, temporary deafness?], the woman has paid her dues.

As for the others, Goldfrapp are pretty huge in the UK and Europe and have a sizable and devoted following here. Santogold is pretty big for a one album artist; especially in her scene. And, Peaches? Really? You expect Peaches to be huge? With a mouth like that?
