Somebody take care of this for me.
Somebody take care of this for me.
Don't tempt me.
Good example, John. Anybody have other examples of stringed instruments?
A theremin made of celery.
One of those things you make out of tissue boxes and rubber bands when you're a kid.
A flute tied to a string.
Nice rack, and shame on all of you for not saying it sooner.
That thing Crocadile Dundee swings around that makes the droning noise.
Shut up mccabe, that's my favourite one so far.
i want to start a company that makes violin bows out of whales baleen
Jared beat me to it. I was going to say long flourescent bulb with a bow.
i win this thread. period.
I was going to post Tiesto's Adagio For Strings but I couldn't bring myself to do it, even for comedy. So whatever. Arvo Pärt.
Barber's Adagio for Strings is a fine piece. His Violin Concerto is better. I have a recording with Menhuin on violin and Furtwangler conducting that I will stand by til the end.
I know I've talked about Bartok's string quartets (especially the 4th) and Shostakovich's string quartets (especially 10 and 15 and 8 is the popular one but it deserves recognition) and I've probably gone on about Beethoven's quartets or at least the late ones. I mean, they're all something but damn if the late ones aren't monstrous.
I love John Adams' Violin Concerto too.
But mostly when I think of my favorite string parts, espeically cello and double bass parts, they're part of symphonies that include instuments that normally do not have strings so I don't know if I am allowed to talk about them.
yeah, let's not get off track...
If you subscribe to string theory, John, you might say that every instrument is a stringed instrument. So how about you stop picking string-nits and go verb a stringed noun on some adjectively stringed noun. This isn't one at all. How do you tie a flute to a string?
I would like to hear someone play this:

.
I'm an expert at playing that. I will be giving demonstrations at Coachella 2010 with my ReacTable band.
