Hey everyone this is my 1st post on the Coachella Message Board and it was really cool meeting some of you at Prodigy in San Francisco @ The Warfield a little while ago (thx 4 the intro Ryan)! I would like to start off by sharing this awesome cover version of "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" as originally performed by The Beatles, covered by IO Echo. I met Joanna after the show (they opened for La Roux btw...) and she gave me a copy of her ep. It is delicious and digests well. Excellent for chilling, entertaining company or getting out of control. Your choice

Pretty much all of the proper studio versions on Youtube have embedding disabled, so live will have to do.

Intro is a bit pedantic, but I really like the rest of it.

EDIT: The blog post compares different Hallelujah covers

Joanna Newsom covering a traditional scottish song. She does a badass version of Little Wing by Hendrix as well, but I can't find any youtubes.

This is interesting. Things come full circle.

Springsteen wrote BTN while working on Darkness on the Edge of Town. He was working it up in the studio with the E Street band as a sort of Latin dance number, but decided he couldn't make it work. Patti Smith was in the studio next door working on Easter, and Springsteen gave her the song (or Smith stole it, there are conflicting stories). Smith rewrote some of the lyrics and the Patti Smith Group worked up the rock arrangement that made the song famous. Springsteen has always used Smith's arrangement when he plays the song live.

    And now here's Tunstall's Latin(ish) cover.
