Thread: Sasquatch vs Coachella

    Default Sasquatch vs Coachella

So obviously, I don't think any of us would trade the Coachella experience for any other festival, BUT...

I'm having withdrawals from the whole festival scene and was wondering if anyone has been up to Sasquatch in Washington. How does it compare?

I think sasquatch is awesome, the venue is the best venue that i have ever been to. The lineup isnt as full as Coachella, but i feel its still a new festival in the PacNW and features a lot of PacNW bands (which can be a downfall since that scene is so diluted).

Camping at sasquatch is cooler, you can park right next to your tent and I think i saw people had hibatchi grills. (i could be wrong on that last part) but the car next to the tent thing is really nice.
Oh and its not as crowded (20000 vs up to 60000). WHen a band you want to see is on you can pretty much walk right up to the stage and enjoy.

October 5 // ARCADE FIRE @ Henry Miller Library

(someone should give me Sufjan Stevens tickets, aint got none of those)

I've never been to Sasquatch but it seems like it would attract a lot of the more dedicated music fans that also attend Coachella. I think it'd probably be a great time with a great atmosphere to it. But like I said, I've never been so I don't really know.

I never really had any interest in Sasquatch until this year. The line-up looks better than previous years, and I've read that the gorge is the best venue in California.

I'd say Coachella and Sasquatch are tied in my book for overall experience. Sasquatch completely owns the Polo Fields with the fucking gorge. And make sure you go camping at the main campground! Way more fun then Coachella camping!

Sasquatch is the only big alternative music fest left in the U.S. (No classic rock!)
The venue and this year's lineup beats out all others.
Coachella has much better weather and gets megapoints for five stages/tents and nice amenities, but it's become too big, mainstream and LA.

I have been to one sas and 3 Coachella's, I can't really say one is better, for me they were totally different. I went to Sasquatch a few years ago when a hail storm came through during Neko Case (main stage) I think...and everyone ran for cover...Coachella's weather is sooo much better but the gorge is one of the most beautiful places ever with the river and mountain as a backdrop to the main stage...blissss....Sasquatch is adding a dance tent this year I will be interested to see if that catches on...

I've done 3 of each fest.

Coachella gets the rare acts and big reunions. It's tough to beat that. Sasquatch is also somewhat limited in # of stages it can put on due to space. Having said that, there isn't a bad seat in the house for the main stage.

    LOL, ROLF, GFY.

Sorry, got carried away with the CAPS.

Granted, I've never been to Coachella, but I know, they will always have a better lineup, more bands, more stages, and hotter weather (not necessarily better). Sasquatch will always have the better venue, milder weather (which might be better), better camping, and a third the capacity so you can get close to the bands you want to see.

If it was as easy to get to Coachella as it is to get to Sasquatch, I might dig it more, but I actually like the minimal crowd factor compared to a giant festival like Coachella and Lollapalooza. I can't wait to see how cool Coachella can be, they almost had me this year.

Every time I read someone talking about how great the Coachella "experience" is, I picture a bunch of ravers waiting in line at a clothed wizard passing out handfulls of E and LCD?

are you fucking retarded? the sahara is 20% (at most) of coachella. you can spend the entire weekend without once setting foot in the sahara. stop talking out of your ass.

    LOL!

Hmm .. I've never been to Sasquatch myself, but I think I might actually consider it in the future. Afterall, my sister DID move to Washington two summers ago. I smell a visit.

Anyway, if you're curious, I suggest you go regardless and experience it for yourself. Everyone has their own opinions about it and yours can most certainly differ from other's. The smaller crowd thing sounds like a major plus.

Just to clarify, they are both in the desert. No pretty trees at the Gorge.

coachella's genre selection is unrivaled in north american festivals.. no other event could i walk from the bloody beetroots and see fleet foxes right after. if you just like rock though and you live closer to sasquatch, i'd opt for sasquatch if i had to pick one.

Sasquatch is in a week, and Coachella is in 11 months.

    Therefore, Sasquatch > Coachella.
