It's a damned shame he can't really sing anymore. I'd love to hear some tracks from Heart of Saturday Night, but I don't think he could pull it off anymore. If you haven't heard that album, you're seriously missing out.

bone machine is the one album of his i really can't get into. His first two are some of my favorite albums ever. i will say Closing Time > HOSN

would love to see Waits though at coachella, at a bar, anywhere. just come to LA already

I want Tom Waits to play anywhere on the West Coast AS SOON AS FUCKING POSSIBLE. I'd prefer seeing him in a small club somewhere in Portland or Seattle, but I'd take Coachella. Too bad they won't let him rock a tent.

Oh, and everyone knows the best Tom Waits albums are Swordfishtrombones, Rain Dogs, and Bone Machine, in no particular order depending on your taste. Heart of Saturday Night and other early Waits just does not compare. Heart Attack and Vine is sick ass shit though. And Real Gone is fucking amazing, I don't care what the haters say.

Haha thats funny because I just recently got Bone Machine and it was a pretty instant hit for me : )... I do think its a little overrated though. Some consider it his best. I'll have to check out Closing Time pretty soon.

In an interview, Tom Waits sister claimed that Tom Waits gets offers almost every year to play Bonnaroo. Tom is now clean though, and he doesn't want to play in any environments that may tempt him to do drugs. But yes, he would be perfect at Bonnaroo. Oh, and don't ask me why Tom Waits' sister was being interviewed.

My ears just discovered Tom Waits, thanks to TCHY's sig. I was buying some books and 'Closing Time' was just sitting on the counter when I got to the checkout, so I just bought it.

While I love the man and support his appearance anywhere, I highly doubt he will play at any fest...ever. Look at his last two tours. He basically only plays in old opera houses and theatres, and does a few seemingly random cities. Waits is uncomprosisngly independent and somewhat of a recluse.

But, who knows. Maybe one of his kids will talk him into it.

My opinion on his best album: Rain Dogs without a doubt...although The Black Rider could give it a run for its money.
