Everybody has to eat, and some people even cook their own food.
If you have a recipe you like, share it with the rest of us so that we too can enjoy edible nirvana.
I substitute everything lettuce with fresh chard...its so much more dense and satisfying.
Jeff's delicious pasta. (Which he happens to be eating at this very moment) It's fairly quick and very easy.
-Infuse some chopped garlic (~4 cloves) into a one second pour of olive oil in the pan of your choice.
-The moment you can see the garlic start to brown at all, add 1/3 chopped onion. Mix into garlic and olive oil.
-After ~1 minute, add 16-20oz. shredded ground turkey (extra lean)
-Season to taste. For me that entails a generous amount of crushed red pepper, chilli powder and Franks Red Hot sauce (yes, the cheap stuff). Mix and continue to cook turkey.
-As the meat is getting pretty well cooked, add ~6-8 sliced mushrooms.
-Let mushrooms soak in all the meaty goodness for a few minutes, mixing every so often.
-You can make your own pasta sauce but for time's sake I add a jar of store bought stuff. Mix everyhthing together and add whatever seasoning/spices you see fit. I usually add more hot spices and sauces. This is where I add Jamaican Style Batch #114 Hot Sauce, my secret weapon.
Cook up you noodles at the same time and BAM! You've got some quick, tasty pasta.
Jeff's delicious guacamole:
2 advocados
2 roma tomatoes
1/4 finely chopped onion
3 minced garlic cloves
1 jalapeno pepper
crushed red pepper
chilli powder
salt
black pepper
-cut advocado and remove pit. Spoon out the flesh and put it into a medium mixing bowl.
-add the chopped tomatoes, onion, garlic, and chopped jalapeno and mix. Be sure to remove the jalapeno seeds and chop into small bits.
-add a dash of salt, a little more black pepper, a fair amount of the crushed red pepper and chilli powder.
-mix everything together, cover with saran wrap etc. and place in the fridge for one hour. Et voila, you've got some really tasty guac waiting for you.
Awesome hummus:
1 can of garbanzo beans (drain beans, but save the liquid)
3 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons tahini
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon cumin (I don't like cumin so I leave this out)
Mix all ingredients except for the bean liquid in a food processor or blender. Add bean liquid slowly until it's the consistency you want (usually doesn't take much, 1/4 to 1/2 cup or so).
Let it sit for 20 minutes or so for the flavors to meld together. If you want, you can drizzle it with olive oil, sprinkle with paprika, and add some pine nuts or parsley at the end.
I like recipes, but this seems a lot like a lengthy recipes thread that already exists and also like the cooking thread.
But it's all stale and moldy. Hasn't been used since 9/19/08. We're waaayyyyy past the expiration date.
Hmmmmmm. I'll make a batch and then experiment with half of it. Sounds a little iffy but cream cheese is known to make most things endlessly better.
alright i'll contribute one i got from marlboro... it's called BIG OL' MESS:
1lb. smoked sausage cut into chunks
3 jalepeno peppers sliced
1 green pepper cut into chunks
1 sweet onion cut into chunks
1/4 cup tabasco
10 oz. jar sweet-and-sour sauce
1 foil bag (if not available anymore make one yourself)
place sausage, peppers, and oniion in foil bag.... mix tabasco and sweet-and-sour sauce in a small bowl and pour over mixture in foil bag; seal edge tightly... place foil bag on grill; cook for about 45 minutes, turning every 15 minutes... slit open and serve right out of the bag with either forks or toothpicks...
makes 6-8 appetizer servings and believe me this is for people who LOVE spicy food because it IS hot... hope somebody tries it and enjoys it as much as my friends and i did....
