Default Capitol Hill Block Party, Seattle WA July 24/25

didn't see an official thread for this...

who's going? the lineup is really fuckin solid for 40 bucks

sonic youth, jesus lizard, deerhunter, thermals, gossip... all awesome bands left off coachella this year and there are a lot of really good acts among the smaller bands (micachu and the shapes! starfucker, future of the left, past lives, pains of being pure at heart, japandroids, mika miko...)

I am really enjoying Spinnerette. I had only heard one song previously, but they have 3 others up on their site. The mainstage on Friday is AWESOME. I think I am going to try and make it down for this.

In case anyone is interested... Brody Dalle is their lead singer. It is obvious Josh Homme has had an effect on her, these songs a very Queens of The Stone Age-ish.

So I am worried about conflicts. For instance Japandroids v. Sonic Youth. Does anybody know if the headliner for the Vera Stage goes on at the same time as the headliner for Main Stage?

I had a dream the other night that The Sonics and Monotonix were added to this line up...

Monotonix would be perfect for Block Party, tailor made even.

Exactly. They played Seattle like, 857298 times last year though... so who knows. Also, I think The Sonics would be the PERFECT act to go before Sonic Youth.

So I've been listening to some of the bands on the line up that I am unfamiliar with and I found that I really like the Spinnerettes. Has anybody heard of them? They have an EP out called Ghetto Love and its awesome.

The Capitol Hill Block Party happens July 24-25 in Seattle's Capitol Hill Neighborhood. The already hefty lineup has just added Built To Spill, Pela, The Lonely Forest, Fences, Awesome Color, Wild Orchid Children and the Sing Sing Reunion featuring Pretty Titty and Fourcolourzack.

Yeah, I am definitely checking out all of the Japandroids' set, especially since they canceled at Sasquatch. This will be my first year going, so I'm not sure about the walk between stages.

Is it odd that I live but blocks away from the venue that the Jesus Lizard and Sonic Youth are playing and I don't have tickets yet? This really needs to change asap. Temporary self-fail!

I bought tickets pretty much as soon as they were onsale; it's the only thing I really have lined up for after I move.

So is Valarie going to this too? Valarie, are you going to this?

I have my tickets and now all I have to do is book a rental car to drive from Portland to Seattle. I am not sure how far away my friend I am staying with lives from Capital Hill, but I don't think it's too far.
