Roskilde 2009 Anyone?

have any other boardies been before? Best festival I've ever been to. Back in the Kristiana days it was just fucking nuts. Two weeks of pre-festival with tons of bands; sort of an unorganized SXSW and then the big show itself. Great sound, some rain sometimes, but tons of amazing undercard; thats my main draw.

The undercard better be good as the headliners blow in a big way. I intend to go one year, but there is nothing new or exciting to persuade me in 09.

Half the artists are pretty obscure Scandinavian acts who i'd be shocked if 99% of the board would recognise, to be fair.

yeah... a typical response. like marco said, I went in '07 because I was in europe for a few months and had heard good things about the festival.

don't really care for the lineup this year... but if someone is into it, i'd recommend this festival in a heartbeat.

well. I would agree that this isnt the same kind of lineup as the last three years, its not any worse than those, its just going to be a lot different. Some of those undercard bands I've been dreaming to see forever. Its so nice.

I am going too, but i do live 20 miles from the festival site so its kind of stupid not to go.

BTW. 2ManyDjs and Neurosis was added today and there is still around 20 names left.

If you want to know it, there are 7 (or 8) stages at Roskilde and they are...

Orange stage (main stage) - 60.000+

Arena Stage (huge tent, sometimes the capacity is listed as 25.000 when people stands outside the tent) - 17.000

Cosmopol (Urban music) - 6.000

Odeon (Rock music) - 5.000

Astoria (World music at day and club music at night) 3.500

Pavilion (small artists) 2.000

Pavilion Jr. (new scandinavian artists in the warm up days before the festival starts) 2.000

Lounge - 1.300
