Thread: Art thread

I'm saying different people appreciate different things. Ok, her works is not brilliant. But she is young. You cannot deny that she has talent. She is young and just going to school for art.
Im no art snob, I honestly dont know shit and I have zero artistic ability, I was just sending pictures from my phone to my photobucket account and thought I would post them in the art thread. You dont have to like it, you also dont have to be completely rude about it either. I think especially the pot leaf one is pretty, and pleasing to the eye. I'm not a real artist or critic for that matter but i think they are neat.

you are filling my computer screen with horrific vomitus and I don't have to be completely rude about it?

Your friend has no talent. None. she has no eye. she has no perception. she is mired in cliche'.

Don't bother justifying, samnco. Just recognize.

I must add that I can't see the art in question, so my input is useless.

I tried. Some people just really like to be negative online, Im not sure why. Im sure he is a great person in real life and to people he wants to be great to. I wonder why you cannot see it. Thats weird. Randomly I will be able to see things and then I will not. All one the same computer also I dont understand.

Schoenberg's Drei Klavierstücke, op. 11 (aka, Three Piano Pieces), played by cats on pianos. Footage compiled by artist Cory Arcangel. Sort of love this.

And for reference, as Schoenberg intended it:

I'm not sure if this should go in the art thread or upcoming shows thread or noise music thread or otherwise, but the lineup for Performa 09 (NYC, November 1-22) is pretty fantastic.

I just got tickets for "A Fantastic World Superimposed on Reality: A Select History of Experimental Music" curated by Mike Kelley at the teeny tiny Gramercy Theater, with Thurston Moore and Ryan Sawyer, Destroy All Monsters, Arto Lindsay, Tony Conrad, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, and other awesomeness. Apparently they're going to be performing classics by John Cage, Fluxus, Fred Frith and Max Neuhaus, as well as new works.

Fischerspooner will be opening the biennial with a 3-hour performance in the round at MoMA.

Wow, just saw samnco's friend's painting. "Love" in the middle of the canvas? Why not paint wings and call it a metaphor for freedom while you're at it. Uninteresting and messy. Looks like it was intended to "be deep" and ended up as visual gibberish.

Saw a Tim Roda exhibit in town this weekend. I enjoyed his photography quite a bit. My favorite:

Maybe some of you have seen this but kinetic sculptures are so beautiful. One day I'm going to have one in my house. They give off such peaceful energy and are so calming.
