I really like those owls too, actually. My five year old cousin was just visiting us, and she was reading a book with pictures of owls in it which she thought was a scratch n sniff, so she scratched the picture, leaned down to smell it, and said "mmm! smells like owl!".

Last month Blaine Fontana had his work on display...I <3 his work.

i just really don't understand the whole blaine fontana thing. decent enough work, but it either looks like everything else or everything else looks like it. if his came first - that's unfortunate, because other people are doing it better:

Im going to try my hand at art soon. A local company is having a design a skate deck contest (cliche?) anyways Im going to switch it up and use a ton of mediums....stone, glass, wood, ect. I have a cnc and waterjet at my disposal, so im going to make it more of a sculpture rather than just painting on it or using digital prints....im really nervous because the last time I tried anything art related was finger painting in the 1st grade.

that's exciting as hell, Justin. i really look forward to seeing what you come up with. i did a skate deck awhile back for the Missoula Skatepark fundraiser, and it was a lot harder than i anticipated. mine came out horribly. they liked it, but i didn't show anyone else. haha.

Yeah he's great. I love (they just acquired a few pieces at the Seattle Art Museum) Joel-Peter Witkin as well.

There is another photographer I found recently that i forgot to bookmark, he did this fantastic series of photos about male insecurity with this scrawny, hairy creature in absurd social situations (there is one with these guys pouring milk on this girl while they force him to watch). I'll find it...

well its not that bad compared to some of his other stuff. mine is very similiar to this one. the only difference is the background on mine is baby blue and has a border of decapitated dicks and its on a canvas slab so it looks rougher than this one. he seems like he has alot of time on his hands because hes always contacting me through myspace...

You think that one is rough to define as art, imagine how I felt when WOLFGANG LAIB got an exhibition at the MCASD when I worked there! Some lady hated on one of his pollen fields by jumping the rope barrier and running around in it, kicking the pollen everywhere, and then running out of the museum before anyone could catch her...lol...it was funny...mainly because I thought he was a pretentious prick...

There's a difference between "constructive criticism" (I hate that term) and being an asshole.

You were just being an asshole. There are other places to do that. People aren't going to post their art if they think people are going to say things like that. I'm all for thick skin, but you shouldn't need it in this thread.
