Radiohead Euro Tour next year, :P
Im fully on board for a Euro trip. Im down for anything that is heavily geared towards EDM. If there is something with Orbital playing then I am down for sure.
^^^^ Orbital *sob*
I actually really really wanted to go to Bestival this year. FSOL.![]()
Never been to Lolla so can't comment. From what I've heard from my sister and other family, Oxegen attracts a subset of Irish people more interested in causing trouble, drinking, burning tents etc. The kind of scum I honestly haven't seen in 10yrs living in the US.
I went to Primavera last year and it was great; this year looks the same if not better. Barcelona is a tremendous city too. I'd go there.
Just my 2c.
if primavera is half as amazing as it was this year, that would be an amazing graduation present. but i told my parents i want to go to london again, so there ya go....
Oxegen is rough, it's true. But that suits me, I know what I'm in for, and I like the rowdiness of it. So long as you're in a large enough camping-party that you can look after each other, and so long as you don't mind the sheer environmental adversity you're up against, you can have a good time.
Just once a year, I like to party like a viking.
July 21- Soundgarden- Bill Graham Civic Auditorium
July 30- Rage Against the Machine/Muse- LA Coliseum
Oct 21- Portishead- Berkeley Greek
Nov 18- Pixies- Fox Theater Bakersfield
Ha!
Don't camp on the periphery of the site, you should be fine. I don't think it'll ever be as bad as it was in '06 ever again.
To be fair, I've only ever seen the abandoned tents getting burned on Monday morning. I don't think you're likely to wake up on fire, like.
There's a good indy article about it at http://www.indymedia.ie/article/77264

"riot conditions in Camp A on Sunday/Monday night, the towers pulled down, the rampaging drunks, druggies and robbers and assaulters setting light to tents and the undermanned out of control security who tackled both the law breakers and the innocent with equal viciousness.
PARTY!
If I have to go to Europe next year to see Orbital I will. We'll see what happens, but the creation of this thread was a good idea.
.
if we're going to plan anything we need an idea of dates. if the two festivals you want to hit are three months apart, or the same weekend in different countries, well you get it.
I'll start. faxman can you update the first post with these dates and others people add? once 2010 dates start being announced (eventually) we can update again, but they should happen in roughly the same order. I included ATP although I don't know if that reoccurs at the same time each year.

If anyone wants any advice about Glastonbury, just shout. I help out on their information team during the event.
(The most basic advice is: It generally sells out before the line up is announced, so you have to decide to do the festival and not worry about the acts.)
I'm going to Europe this fall....so I'm out. Coachella is my music vacation. I like my other vacations to revolve around drinking on a beach.
For some reason I thought glasto was mid-june (3rd weekend) rather than the last weekend. It'd still be doable maybe if I worked for a few days or week over there. (I report in to London so I've done this a few times to delay coming home, and it's great, since really all I do when I show up is disrupt things and drag the office to long lunches and afternoons at pubs).
i'm very sad and poor after sasquatch
maybe 2011?
