We were scratching our heads when he came out. I didn't even know who he was, and it was explained to me that he's a middle of the road jazz/soul singer that Oprah is a big fan of. Anyways, it was very anti-climactic, the song he sang was total dullsville and killed the buzz.
I read in another thread that the real "surprise" was to be some sort of holographic display, but the person who created it got pissed off and left with it. Anyone have any other details?

One of the biggest things that i learned from coachella this year is that you people are way too negative. It's not about big names and fancy lineups. Just enjoy the music for what it is. I didn't know who the guy was but i thought he did a great job. It was impossible for anything to ruin MSTRKRFT outside of a police raid on the tent.

I'm going to continue to read this board to hear stories and hear the rumors before the lineup release but as soon as it's released i'm staying far away from this place from now on... I get the feeling that some of you are the ones who just stand in the sahara tent with a video camera in your hand taping the entire thing without so much as a head bob. That's probably not true but the way some of you talk, i swear... are you performance critics or are you there to have a good time?

This incident wasn't about a big name. As I said, I didn't even know who the guy was. All I know is the song he sang was lame and did not fit at all with the rest of the set. I was in the Sahara for electronic music, not commercial R&B.
