    Default tacklechella

so did anyone sit by the entrance and watch the people getting tackled that tried to make a run for it? while i waited for my friends who were sold hard tickets (which ended up being canceled by the person that sold them to them and then re printed) i watched person after person trying to run through and get tackled.

i did see a girl make it through though, the marine type guys wouldnt tackle her. i asked one later in the day if they could tackle a girl and the guy said they had the authority to do it but none of them would.

so i guess if you are a girl going to coachella just run through the entrance.

i didnt hang out in that area too much but i didnt see any tackling. not sure what those people were expecting anyway. if you dont have a valid ticket then you are basically trespassing. this is why you cant trust people selling tickets in the parking lot anymore (as if you ever really could)

dont get me wrong, i've snuck into quite a few shows before but thats always been ninja styles. you try to charge the front gate you are always going to get a response of brute force. you arent really leaving them any other choice

anyway now im curious. how many people are we talking here and what was the farthest you saw anyone get other than the girls?

we were walking to our locker and we saw two dudes climbing up the other side of the fence. we didn't really know what was going on until one guy makes it, lands on the lockers, and jumps down and starts running like hell, and then the other guy got pulled down on the other side... never to be seen again...
i can go with the flow.

I watched them tackle plenty of girls. Some of them were taken down just as hard the guys. While we were in line sunday, multiple groups of people were trying to gate crash. After it settled down they started scanning tickets again. After I was scanned and let through, I bolted to see how far I would make it. They were on me pretty quick and quite surprised when I told them I was excited to be at and just felt like running. The guy that scanned my ticket was laughing his as off at his fellow security guards. It was so hot that I went and bought them all some water. Good times...

On Saturday about 30 or 40 people all ran in at once and most of them made it. Sunday was madness and they were tackling people right and left for a while.

Also, on Friday when I was entering through camping, they forgot to check my ticket after the security check. I had to actually find the person who was checking. So I can see how easy it could potentially be if you're slick.

YES! 100% I saw this go down too. We just happened to be going to the locker when about 30 people came running thru or over the main entrance screaming WOOOOHOOOO! I only saw 1 guy get tackled and HARD. The security guard got him up, had him by the arm and walked him towards the entrance... except about 1-2 minutes later I see the same gate crasher jogging lightly thru the dome area... AWESOME!

I assume the other security guards just weren't getting paid enough to make the effort, because all but one security guard seemed to just be watching this happen. Although some of the gate crashers did have some pretty good fakes / moves.

was actually at that area a lot, and it was indeed fun to watch.
lots of open-field tackles, best being the full-sprint lay out that took down the backpack-wearing gazelle of an indie man-child.
    saw the gate crash,
and also saw the old "friend distracts security while i hop the fence" move, which was awesome because the fence he chose had no support, so when guy one-steps fence to try and clear it, the top then folds like a crepe with him hung-up and bobbing there.
it was sad funny, kinda like rape stove or death bed.
    biggest laugh of the week!

You know that one security guard used to be all conference free safety or linebacker in HS last year & just didn't have the grades to go to college. I would of been doing the same as him if i was a jarhead working a music fest...who cares how much he was getting paid? I guarantee you he was having a lot of FUN! Next year he will be dodging mortars & landmines in Iraq...so permission to tackle civilian trespassers is like playing dodge ball vs girls.

I was behind a group of 7-8 guys and girls, all who were trying to "sneak" in on Sunday. First of all, how fucking stupid are you to all go in the same line together? Second, don't be a douche. It's worth the money.

i guess all the people that tried this are the ones we can thank when they upgrade security at the gates next year. that and all the people bragging that "zomg they didnt even check my pockets!"

I'm 6'1" and clock in at about 265lbs so when they realized I was legal, and wasn't gonna put up a fight, I could see the relief on their faces. Through out the whole weekend they were just killing these hipster kids. You could tell that thought process changed with me. Funneh!

Are we really paying those military assholes to guard a fuckin music festival. This is bullshit! Ship them to Iraq. Or Afghanistan. To do what they really signed up for.

I saw all this go down and saw them shaking hands thinking they were all bad just cause they caught some young ass 150lb kid.

I hated them more than the thug life gangster security trying to flex muscles on little hipsters.

i got taken DOWN by a group of guys sneaking in. they hoped the fence and all ran and two of them were holding hands ran right into me. ended up flat on my back and had to call the EMTs over to make sure I was ok because i hit my head really hard (i'm a girl, 5'4, 125lb so thats why i fell so hard). They caught one of the guys that hit me, and found a whole bunch of drugs in his bag...but then we saw him inside the festival later? i got whiplash, but also a sweet story to tell.

No you aren't paying the military to guard a festival. It was 100% voluntary. Those Marines gave up thier weekend to do that and Marines give thier lives everyday in Iraq and Afghanistan. It would seem that those of you who actually paid to attend would appreciate the fact that people who didn't pay couldn't just run thru the gates for free!!
By your message you it doesn't appear that you really appreciate the work Marines do overseas, so it's no surprise that you wouldn't appreciate them securing a simple music festival.

It's Funny How You Say Why Are We Paying Payed For It...We Actually Were Receiving No Pay For It, It's All Voluntary.

Right when I entered the festival on Saturday (@5 b/c of gddmn traffic), I saw a guy kind of just jog through the entrance with a back pack on, just like, looking excited and not so suspicious, then book it 15 ft. into his jog to amazing success. He was swallowed by the crowd as 2 security dudes tried to find him.

(I even mentioned to my friends in line that sprinting through seemed like the best way to sneak in, and wondered why nobody did it)
apparently it is done. well done.

Yeah way to puss out on that bum rush. I'm sure you and your buddies could have made it to at least the dome before a security guard, or one of the 70,000+ people who paid to go tackled you for being a fucking dick. I hope one night you ironically end up crashing your car through a gate and die.

i will say thanks to the volunteers, generally its a miserable but neccesary job...

you may whine about the searches, but no one has died on the polo grounds yet (knock on wood) and alot of that has to do with the fact that they search pretty well, stuff gets through, but in small enough amounts that people don't od...

also, we pay good fucking money to get into this fest, and it may be cute to see a few hipsters make a run for it, generally they threaten the livelyhood of the festival, and increase ticket prices for the rest of us...
