1. The spotlights. Why were they so toned down from last year? I was really expecting that to be back this year and although they did a little bit of their tricks there was clearly a distinct cutback in the orchestration and awesomeness of those spots. It took the wind out of my sails a bit.
2. The main stage lighting/screens. What the fuck? You couldn't see anything on those screens before nightfall worth half a shit. And seeing as The Black Keys and Yeah Yeah Yeahs both went on before the sun had set, it kinda took away from what were my two favorite sets of the weekend. Also, the lighting scheme on the main was kinda weird. During The Cure it looked like there were a few scattered lights trying to poke through a black curtain behind them. There was a vid screen behind McCartney--did The Cute just not want to use it? Felt like that during Franz too.
Otherwise I was pretty pleased I suppose. It felt a lot like 2007 to me though, where Friday was awesome and then things got progressively less interesting Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was really, really weak. I tried. I went around to every fucking stage I could and there just wasn't anything that good happening. Chem Bros were weak despite what everybody says, Crookers were great though, and MSTRKRFT was horseshit as usual.
